Re: The Miniatures Project Thread
Looks good. I've done a bit of gradient painting before, back when I was painting regularly. Can be a nice effect, but when I tried it for the cockpits in my 'mechs a couple of years ago I struggled to stop my paint drying out.
Re: The Miniatures Project Thread
If your paint dries out to much and you can see the transitions clearly then glazes can help to sort that out.

Re: The Miniatures Project Thread
Just jotting this down so I don't forget in future:
Acrylic paints are pretty much 25% acrylic resin, 25% water, 25% iso alcohol, with the remaning 25% being a mix of pigment and additives like glycol.
If paints are drying out in the pots and you need to save them, use a 1:3 ratio of iso alcohol and distilled water. The alcohol water mix is the key part. Tap water can be used but obviously added extra minerals to the paint.

Buzz, did you ever get your gretchins finished? Just wondering as I would like to see how they turned out.

Re: The Miniatures Project Thread
Funny you should ask Pnut, I have indeed finished, at least as much as I intend to do.
(click for biggah!)

I'm not 100% happy with them, lots of little faults all over the place, a number due to paint issues but mostly due to my own technique. That said, I'm relatively happy considering it's the first time I'd painted minitures in probably a decade, and it was not in my normal flow either (block paint on sprues, then assemble but on sticks, then finally glue to base).

Nicely done, they look fine to me mate.
Re: The Miniatures Project Thread
I have just stumbled across this site, some nice and affordable painting stations and paint racks in there.

These are really useful,

I used a sponge instead of paper towels but I suppose both work as well as each other.

Just taken delivery of one of these bad boys,

It's going to be one hell of a project, but I'm looking forward to it. Once I finish my current paint job.
Despite the canon stating that rogue Knights are rare, I'm feeling the urge to make it Slaanesh. Either way I'm going to be going very slowly and carefully.

'kin hell, that's going to take some painting. I really need to pull my finger out, not done any painting in ages and really want to get my strike horse finished.
Re: The Miniatures Project Thread
FJ, if I go with the Slaanesh option then you're not too far off.
