Running old games
I have the unexplicable urge to run C&C Red alert, and dark horses, but neither of them will install on xp. Any ideas other than grab an old 98 pc and install them on that?

Yes, but you have to right click and set compatibility mode for every execuatable within the directory for the program, as some exe's launch other programs.Dog Pants wrote:Has anybody ever actually managed to get anything to work with compatibility mode? I haven't tried old games though.
I've had to use compatibility mode to get some floorware programs to work. Apart from that..Dog Pants wrote:Has anybody ever actually managed to get anything to work with compatibility mode? I know I haven't.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:dosbox? 98 compat mode?
I can remember using it to get SimCity3000 (I felt like reminiscing!) working but it was all dodgy, lots of features stopped working making the game unplayable. Damn you windows *Shakes fist*.
