I really liked the visual style of that movie. Especially when the pirates showed up, lol...
Also, Heat has a really great bank heist/street shootout scene that makes it worth the hour and a half you wait for it.

Films? I could go on and on. I've got 299 at the last count, but some worthy of note include:
Airplane
Blazing Saddles
Caddyshack
Das Boot
Dawn of the Dead (either version, but the original is a classic)
Ghostbusters
Glory
Grosse Pointe Blank
Groundhog Day
Happy Gilmore
Leon
Muppets' Treasure Island
Them!
The Goonies
The Running Man
The Shawshank Redemptioni
The Shining
The Thing
I've also been after a Rutger Hauer film called Split Second on region 2 for years but to my knowledge it doesn't exist. Anyone seen that?

as far as movies you may not have seen, i'd have to say that The Salton Sea, Kafka, Naked Lunch, Buckaroo Banzai, UHF, Cannibal the Musical, Raising Arizona, Real Genius, The Favour, the Watch and the Very Big Fish, Night on Earth and suburbia are worth a try.
NB: some of these have a verrrrry small number of people who can actually watch them, but i like them all.

I keep thinking of more, but here's a few on a similar theme: Delicatessen, The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover and La Grande bouffe. I wouldn't say they were particularly amazing films as a whole, but certain scenes are still vivid in my head even now, 10 years after having seen them last.
Mind you, the same could be said about most of the older films with "Cannibal" in the title. In a bad way.
