Re: Belgium Bash III - Revenge of the Johnson
Right, so I'm looking into our transport for Saturday, but I need to know how many of us there are going to be for that. Currently my options are renting a 16-seater van with a driver that would cost us about €300. That is not cheap, so either I'm going to have to fill up the vacant seats with other people somehow or I'm going to need two smaller vans without chauffeurs which would definitely be cheaper. So as soon you can confirm please let me know.
Currently I have as definitely:
-Grimmie
-Em
-Joose
-Mrs. Joose
-Wiggy
-Shada
-Mrs. Shada
Maybe's:
-Tezz
-FJ
-Tandino
-Mrs. Tandino

I'm an almost-definite at this point.
I haven't quite got my passport yet, but I can't think of any reason they might not let me leave the country. I've booked the time off work, so I'll swim to Belgium if I have to.

Little update: For Saturday I booked us a van that can seat 8 people (and a driver) which costs us only €65 which is about €8 PP. We'll probably be with more than 9 but extra transport will get solved later on.

This is your service announcement.
If you haven't bought tickets yet, best do so now before they hike the price up again. I didn't know they would sneakily up the price halfway through the year so sorry about that guys. Bet you it's because of those bloody pandas.

Also, the current amount of people is just enough to fit into the van so if anyone wants to join in last minute let me know now because I will need to arrange additional transport.

Re: Belgium Bash III - Revenge of the Johnson
Just bought my Zoo tickets - they're 28€ at the moment.
Also, I've booked my train to Brussels and should be arriving at 14:05 on the Friday. Should I book my tickets to Gent now from Brussels or can I just buy them from the ticket machine at the station?

You can indeed buy them from the ticket machines or if you want to save time you can get them online, it depends on how long you have to connect to your train.

Before it's too late and I forget, a few things:
-On Sunday we'll be taking it easy, if you want to have a jaunt around the city by yourself you're free to do so. As a town that receives it's fair share of tourists many things remain open on Sundays such as museums and cafés. Apart from shops, most cultural things are closed on Monday, as are many bars.
-For the beer drinkers: I'll be picking up some beers earlier in the week and have my mum drop it off on Saturday with the van. On Friday we'll just have a drink at a bar and I'll get some lighter beers and other requests you can drink at the boat. If you have an idea of what you want here is the list of the store. For us, the important parts are "Specialiteiten" and "Trappist". If you're not sure of what you want I can pick and match for us.

Re: Belgium Bash III - Revenge of the Johnson
Something else I've been pondering is transport.
As you can see on google maps, my house is not exactly within walking distance from your boat. For me this isn't a problem, I can ride the tram and bus for free and can use my bicycle for when the public transport stops for the night, and I can bring groceries to the boat which you'll need anwyay. My main concern is for Wiggy, since he's staying with me. We can also do the bash at my house but it's the same problem in reverse and it'll cost you more than it will me or Wiggy.
So, Wiggy, we have to either:
-See if you can stay on the boat, either sleep on the couch there or I can give you a sleeping bag and such.
-Go home before 1 AM by bus (last bus leaves at 00:54)
-Call a taxi after 1 AM that we share to cut costs.
I can also lend you a bike but it's Mrs. J's bike (so, a lady's bike) and Ghent isn't a safe cycling place for the uninitiated.

I'm fine with any of that, to be honest - let's just see how it goes
