Its just practise. You start seeing patterns after a while, and the more patterns you can recognise without thinking about it the less you have to actually think about it. Its the thinking that takes the time.

EDIT: For reference, i've completed the main game perfect on all the puzzles, and i've done 136 random/daily puzzles now. Thats quite a lot of practise.
