New wireless ADSL router?
My router is begging to be released so it can make it's way to the router graveyard, it needs frequent beatings to keep it working. So I need a replacement, any suggestions?
My current one is a Linksys WAG54G and reviews I looked at recently made me LOL, seems as though I've been lucky it's worked this long.

As likely as it is that this will cause screaming again, I recently got the WAG354G. It's worked very well in the few weeks I've had it so far. Before that I had a 3com (rebranded- same as a Belkin, apparently) OfficeConnect. It lasted a year and could be a little flakey sometimes.
edit: Just read some reviews for the WAG354G. All I can say is that I've had no connection droppages and it was piss easy to set up. The range is fine for my house, but if you want to extend it there's a plug for an aerial.

I've had a BT Voyager 2100 for over a year now and its still going strong, havent had any problems with it. I connect to it with a wire but my brother connects through wireless and he still gets good pings on games.

My WRT54GC has been fine, although I don't actually use the wireless function. It has recently been slashed in price by about a half.
The old Netgear MR314 was still working but an XBox server "upgrade" to make some other routers work caused it to "fall off" the compatibility list.
Edit: By fine, I mean it has never failed in the 4 or so months I've had it. It's on 24/7 has never dropped a connection and when I'm not playing a game it's downloading documents pretty much full-time.

I was going to ask about this. Can it cause any problems? Guessing at how I should configure it I've set http to high priority and left most the others as low, FTP medium, as I don't use the other standard protocols. There's space for 3 custom ports, suggestions?deject wrote:make sure you enable QoS for maximum gaming goodness!
Also what about enabling QoS on my OS? I'm not using it yet.
