Fun fact: that character is seen briefly in 'Batman Begins' and is played by Tim 'Oh sit down' Booth of James.FatherJack wrote:I read somewhere that Zsasz the first dude you take down in the Asylum game is in it.

I'd rather have a new, actual evil dead film (as in not related to the remake) but I'll take it.

Considering how insanely sexist comics can be a lot of the time, Marvel deserves a lot more recognition for how much they are doing to get away from that. Here is a female lead with what appears to be a significant number of female support roles. Carter is playing a traditionally male role (kickass super spy) without "making it OK" by slapping a bunch of sex on top. Its a great example of how to style a female character in a way that is neither kinda slutty, tomboy or gruff lesbian (I think they have achieved this by thinking "What do women like to wear to look good?" rather than "What do men like women to wear to look good?"). Plus they have passed the Bechdel test in the goddamn trailer.
Woo yay feminism aside, it also looks like this will be quite entertaining, though I am a sucker for anything 40's styled.

The five foot something, slightly built woman I knew at uni who was a 2nd dan black belt jujitsu instructor would probably have something to say about that.Moron wrote:I cant take female action-stars seriously. Ooh, Hayley Atwell and a 40's settings! I might not watch this myself but I'll definitely pass it on to Mrs. J.

Archer started again last week. Not bad, but by no means amazing.
Also, new format mythbusters has started, no more additional 3 idiots doing filler, almost no painful repetition. Lots more attention paid to the engineering and science. Good shit.

this sounds like a good thing. Especially the repetition - I can only assume it was for 5-second-attention-span and adverts every minute american audiences, but goddam it gets annoying.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:Also, new format mythbusters has started, no more additional 3 idiots doing filler, almost no painful repetition. https://www.reddit.com/r/smyths is a wonderful thing, they re-cut and edit them into myth-at-a-time and no repetition, Interestingly they used to have to remove 10-15 minutes per episode, now it's more like 3-5.

Better call saul has started on netflix.
FWIW, if you don't have a netflix sub, you can get a trial using say email.address+1@gmail.com, then +2, and they'll all go to your normal email, and never have to pay a penny.

Peaky Blinders, new thing on netflix.
Could well be called Bostin' Empire, given it's boardwalk empire in Birmingham.

Really CBS? You've commissioned this? More to the point, DC/Warner Bro's have given this the okay?

Re: New season talk type thread thing.
Argh. I was kinda pleased that there was going to be a TV superhero thing with a female lead, because no one seems to want to do that. Then I watched the trailer and realised it was Smallville meets Devil Wears Prada. This is going to be shit, and now idiots will point at it and go "ha, see, we were right to not make a show with a female lead."
For fucks sake.
