Multiplayer Game of the Year Award 2013 Nominations

Post by Dog Pants »

Place your nominations here for the multiplayer game of the year. This is the game which you have enjoyed the most online, with other people. Or in hotseat mode I suppose. I'll put voting polls up in the new year.

I can think of a few decent MP games from this year, but one I'm going to nominate for GotY. Planetside 2 is a great game but has struggled to catch on with 5punkers. So I'll get in early an nominate the elephant in the room - Dota 2.

Its gotta be DOTA2. Theres been a few things that have been dabbled in, but theres a reason DOTA has become an inevitable end point to our weekend gaming sessions.

Dota 2's gonna take the vote by storm, I know, but I thought it'd be nice to tip our hat towards a multiplayer game I never thought I'd see 5punkers get together to play. Civ V, which is essentially historical battle-chess.

While dota2 is excellent and always ends up being played, I'm going to have to nominate Chivalry for sheer silly gaming pleasure

Definitely Chivalry. Dota 2 is a great game but doesn't really allow for much 5punkyness.

Dota 2 - horrible learning curve, difficult to master (or even average), and only one map. And yet it's just so goddamn addictive and fun

Been an odd year for multiplayer games for me, as I've hardly touched them. Planetside, DOTA and BeeF don't interest me at all, and they're what everyone seems to be playing. I'll really have to try and catch everyone in the rare moments they're playing something else like Chivalry. Other than the games we played at Grimbash: Micro Machines and Streets of Rage I don't think there's been much else I've joined in with.

GTA V deserves a mention though, as it's basically causing the chaos you normally do, but with a mate - shame it's currently console only and our playerbase is split across two different ones.

I will nominate B44F and Warframe.

They're a lot of fun in my opinion, definitely the 2 MP games I've spent the most time with this year.

Chivalry again for me. The chaos reminds me of early UT days and that is always a good thing.

GTA 5 is very, very enjoyable and probably been played most by me but like FJ said, being console based and split between 2 of them, it's hasn't got a large 5punk-base to play it. Which is a damn shame as it has the poteienal to do some high-larious things in large groups, hopefully this will be rectified whenever it is released for PC.

PC mention has to be DOTA 2. Initially an acquired taste, but once I had gotten into it, I find it very enjoyable to play and more-so with 5punkers. SNIPPPPPPPPERRRRRRRRRRR.
