Recording text to voice messages as an MP3

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

Wasn't there a site where you could type shit in, and then it would read out the text in a Steve Hawking type voice?

I seem to remember there being a way of saving "computer speech" as an MP3, and this is exactly what I need, ready for my first Radio broadcast with jingles, and my sidekick Stephen Hawking. ;)

If anyone can point me to the site I was trying to find, or a piece of software that will do the same, I would be eternally grateful.

http://www.research.att.com/projects/tts/demo.html has a whole UN of spacky sidekicks, although the output is WAV, so you'll need right-click-MP3 or something, or mix them in with songs with an editor

The audrey (UK) voice on that site is the funniest... and clearest.

Reminds me of many minutes amusement me and my brothers spent on the Amiga using the speech synth to say abusive things to each other.

We used to make prank phonecalls using the workbench (1.3) voice thing.

I to can confess to doing this when I was a wee lad of 15. Had a whole afternoon of laughing at it.

Not aimed at you in particular, it's a board-wide statement. ;)
