I had a muchly similar experience. I didn't actually enjoy it *at all*, but I got the impression that I would if I had the first clue what was going on, and maybe if I wasn't in there by myself. It could really do witha bit of a tutorial.

EDITZ - 5punky server is Miller, faction choice is Vanu Sovereignty

I like this, very much. The scale is immense and it almost feels cinematic, especially all the aircraft flying over head and that Galaxy in the distance.

Also, "There must be over fucking ten people here!" /yorkshire

I tried this today, I was a bit bored really. I found the menu system difficult to understand and there seems to be a lot of assumption that players will have already played the original. The UI will also take some getting used to; I had to stop and look for my health/armour bar and for my ammo count, hunting around a screen is never a good thing when you are in combat.
That is, if you actually find any.
Whilst the map highlights areas where there is activity, even teleports you to those areas, finding something to actually shoot is as difficult as navigating the menu system - I saw no sign of these massive battles that were promised, though this could be down to my choices of location and/or the time of day.

So far, so underwhelmed.

Much lower player population than what will be in release, I presume?

I had a similar experience, but I believe part of the game is cooperating to get transport to where the fighting is. It isn't Battlefield 3, and requires coordination. Unfortunately coordinating with randoms doesn't come easily to me (us), so I'm not sure if I'll like it either. I don't have to decide yet though - I've played almost nothing other than GW2 since I got it, and XCOM is out in a week.

I had a few hours yesterday on this and I have to say that I'm enjoying it, the only problem I had with it was getting back to the fight when you died, sometimes you were only 200m away other times your 1km! Had a few epic fights for the control of a couple of capture points ( one was an hour to get under control, the other was 2 hours and still going when I had to log off). Would like to give this a go with some 5punkers if any of you are up for it?
Oh and its got a release date now, 20th November.

Yeah, I'd still like to return to it. I don't think I really had chance to get into it properly last time.

I think I was Confederate for the music, but I've only played one game so I'm hardly losing out by switching.

My PlayStation Network account worked on this, that's a good sign.

Crashing out with this, not such a good sign.

WE'RE SORRY, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE LAST ACTION, CAN YOU PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER?
Well, as you asked so nicely, I will.

Adding outbound firewall rules for the launcher and main exe sorted it. Thanks Internet.

I appear to be Vanu on EU Miller due to several other people I know saying go there. Not actually managed to get online yet though.

It's working fine for me now.I joined the same as Dogpants, but not for the music.

Although I vote we join friznit, as he has reason to be on a particular server.

Do you have to choose? Are they exclusive or can you have different characters?

Pretty sure they are server specific. They are definitely race specific though.

You can have multiple characters, though you cant' change race/server with them. While people are levelling up their levelly up bits I suspect people won't want to chop and change too much though. At the moment EU Miller has both my lolArmA2 clan and Eve homies on it, the latter actually likely be quite useful (and I shall probably join them to begin with). It'd be cool to add some 5punk to the mix, cos we will then have an automatic alliance of 3 different groups meaning we don't get into "oh noes I'm all alone" issues.

Vanu (which translates to baby on my phone) it is then! Friz's buddies are generally pretty handy and I think.you really do need friends in this game.
