I did and I am. I was mainly just chuffed I worked out the password (even though it was easy).
Re: Roberts Space Industries
Nice reference. Is he doing this indie though? Could be epic, I've often wondered what he could achieve given how tech has moved on.

Yes, just seen that on RPS (who have more information). Must be watched full screen and in HD.

I need a new PC....
Re: Roberts Space Industries
That's one hell of a trailer. If the game lives up to its promise it could be the best thing since Freespace 2.
EDIT: And the interest has killed their site. I'll throw money at my screen in the meantime.

Shiny. Very shiny. I can't see all the stuff he wants to happen arriving in the final product however, the scope is massive. Still, even if it's just an mmo-lite multi-player universe with lots of ships and player driven stuff then I'll gladly sink a few bajillion hours into it.
Re: Roberts Space Industries
I came a little.
The model he's chosen might actually work though - small updates as you go along - but only as long as they retain enough interest otherwise it will fritter away and die (see inevitable Eve comparison).

Re: Roberts Space Industries
I didn't play Freespace2, but I've played X, Freelancer and Wing Commander all of which were influenced by Elite in some way. Freelancer is for me the best of those and the similar promise of an offline component plus the co-op shared, but private universe is very interesting - the possibility of custom ships which perhaps mirror famous sci-fi ones like the Freelancer mods, but for which there's also an in-game interface to design your own makes it even better. The MMO side of it I couldn't give a toss about because Eve.

Oh, FJ, you need to play Freespace 2. Get it off GOG then install OpenFS for hi-def moddy goodness. If only to experience the explosions and the sheer amazeballs of the captial beam lasers used on big ships against each other.FatherJack wrote:I didn't play Freespace2, but I've played X, Freelancer and Wing Commander all of which were influenced by Elite in some way. And the sheer size of the capital ships. The attack on the Lucifer is still one of my standout gaming moments.
Am I going to have to set up a new word felcher?buzzmong wrote:amazballs

Re: Roberts Space Industries
I played FS2 to death back when it was released. I reinstalled it with all MV mods the other day, with a plan to play the new campaign, but not actually played more than the tutorials.... I need more time less work :/

Mel Giedroyc used it on the Great British Bake Off this week, I think it just jumped the shark.buzzmong wrote:amazballs

Considering the top definition here I'd say it's already way beyond that.mrbobbins wrote:Mel Giedroyc used it on the Great British Bake Off this week, I think it just jumped the shark.buzzmong wrote:amazballs
