If I can get a copy of the current world I could probably sort it out, including resetting the current Nether I reckon.

Me and Fab were discussing the hosting situation this morning. We would be happy to take over managing the server/sorting out payments/whatever, it seems a bit silly that the people who have to deal with all that are not actually playing that much. It would mean we would have to hassle you less when we inevitably break the thing too

Who do you have it hosted with at the moment, and would you recommend we stick with them or move elsewhere? I assume if Spoodie can fix the map we would be able to load it on to someone elses server, as long as they were using the same version of tekkit, right?

It's all Anery, I just jump in as admin if I'm needed. He has it hosted with Multiplay, who seen okay. You'll have to ask him, but he's on his hols in the states at the moment. They must be about ready to deport him by now.

Multiplay provide a good service, but they're probably one of the more expensive options. There appears to be dozens of hosting providers - http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/131 ... r-hosting/

Are there many advantages to having it hosted on a dedicated server, or could it be run on someone's machine?

Uptime and bandwidth are the two main things I guess. However I hosted it for a while very early on and no one reported problems even with a measly 2/.5Mb up/down connection speed. Tekkit might be more of a problem in that regard though. Someone's PC, when not in use, would offer more RAM and I'm presuming easier to fiddle with unless Multiplay have easy install and configuration jobbies that you can't get yourself.

I don't play, but I'm bored, so have my 2 cents.

Basically what Thompy said. It would probably be fine, until Fab, spoodie or I create some terrible machine, and I dont want to be responsible for accidentally setting a 5punkers house on fire through server abuse

I've had a look about at some hosting options, these fellas look alright: http://www.bestminecrafthosts.com/fluctis-hosting/

Thoughts?

Risk it for a biscuit. They promote a minecraft specific server poking suite so it may be worth looking at just to decide if it's shit.

Server is back at the time of writing. I've stopped my quarry and removed chunk loaders just in case.

Looks fine to me. They seem to know their core audience, rather than being general server hosting and presumably they support Tekkit. Plus 5 days money back can't be bad and cheaper than Multiplay. I don't like their site icon though, I keep thinking that Chrome is still loading the page.

It'd be useful to get an idea of the memory usage on the existing host, so it's easier to decide on the new host. Assuming that's going to happen.

Memory seems to be a fairly steady 430mb. There was a player or two on earlier by the looks of it which caused a CPU spike but no real change in memory usage. I'll take a backup of the world now while I can.

Railway is nearly finished. In other news I *might* have accidentally filled Wiggy's base with lava . In other other news, I think I fixed it! With a liberal amount of magenta wool and water. Hopefully my rebuild was OK
