MONIES :faint:

This thing launches on Friday Saturday (5-8am) for the cool kids who pre-purchased, three days later for the sad cases, so we need to decide on a server. There are lists on places like Reddit and GW2 Guru detailing where some guilds from various countries are going. While I understand the desire for non-English speaks to band together, multi-culturalism is important to me and I have no desire to go to a server that's designated "Unofficial UK". Although that would be preferable to a server dominated by pesky Poles.

All that might be unimportant however as English should still be the primary language used in public chat (there are French, Spanish and German language servers however, so don't confuse with them), and those lists only account for a small portion of the player base. Additionally server transfers will be free for an undisclosed period of time until populations establish themselves. With that in mind a think a potentially quieter server to begin with as the world won't be so crowded, and either an unofficial UK server or a neutral one.

Here is a reasonable representation of prior mentioned lists, which I can't find just at the moment.

My gut feeling at the moment: Aurora Glade.

Nice! I have 2 weeks off from Friday, but I made a long list of jobs I need to do. How few I'll get done, no one can tell.

I'm happy with that server choice.

I'll be away until tuesday, so unless my copy arrives tomorrow morning I'm out of luck.

I've banded up with a bunch of Merkins and will be on Stormbluff Isle (US) I've been on that server for some of the beta weekends and there are no lagg issues any more.

Ah, typical. I'm away all weekend. Ah well, I will happily join in on whatever server you decide on when I get back.

I'm in, on the Aurora Glade server. Currently playing an Asura Thief (called Glibberig), but I intend to make a Human Mesmer and Nord Guardian at some point.

It's a lot more enjoyable than the beta, but that might just be because I have a vague idea of what I'm doing now.

...I don't think I can play it yet though. Tesco probably shouldn't be selling it until next week.

Got registered and linked to my GW1 account, finally, but looks like a 7am Monday unlock for me. I can do that.

I presume we're going to guild it up at some point? If anyone is interested the RPS guild is on Gunnar's Hold, which was 50/50 with Aurora Glade when I plonked it down. I'm thinking that when the inevitable whittling down of 5punkers occurs it would be good for those that remain to be on a good server. Not that there's anything wrong with AG mind. Anyway, transfers are free and unlimited for a week so now is the time to decide.

That sounds like a good plan, as you say we tend to come and go.

Took until today to get in - I made a character (Kittychan) on Aurora Glade - which is now listed as 'High' population, but missed the option to given her any hair (actually, I think leaves) so I might redo her.

Ofc all the servers keep falling down because it's release day, I got as far as killing (ie: watching some other people kill*) a dragon made out of a tree when I was ejected to the desktop.

*It had a sort of target on it's leg, but I didn't seem to be able to attack it. Then it died.

I like it.

It's not groundbreaking or anything, but it's fun. Combat is good and fairly meaty (physical classes anyway), but it tends to get really fucking confusing when there are lots of people involved.

Don't like the "this is my story" element, because it's quite frankly bollocks. It's a predetermined story and your character has a voice and personality you can't change. Minor irritation, but after everything we've said about wanting to see a game where you're not the chosen one it came as a bit of a let down.

The absence of dungeons (so far at least, not sure if they come along later) is odd. The group events/instances are really fun and you don't have to wait around long for them to pop up. Slightly concerned it may go the way of Warhammer where you can't progress because no fucker is around to help, but who knows. It's also similar to Rift, but at least you don't get dicked by invasions every half hour.

Thumbs up for me so far.

Not seen any problems so far, guess I am lucky - or the US servers are a bit more stable? I'm on Stormbluff Isle US, can't move I'm afraid though if anyone wants to move here I am always up for some encounters

I think the idea here is that when you go in to an area that is too low level for you, you get bumped down a bit. You keep all the skills and such, it just sets your stats to a more appropriate amount for the area. Theoretically that means that high level people who levelled elsewhere will come back to do the earlier level stuff they missed, as it will still give them skill points and suchlike that are useful at the higher levels. Ideally, that should mean people bunch up around the end game content less. That's the theory at least, whether it works or not is another thing.

Yep, I was watching Anery play this weekend and he was being nerfed from 14 to 8 for the group quests he was doing.

I got half an hour or so in last night and created a Charr necromancer with Downes. This pleases me.

I'm struggling to give even the slightest fuck about this. I'm all burned out on mmongs. I'm not even tempted by F2P star wars and I love star wars.

If it turns out to be an enjoyable group 5punk thing I may well succumb however, because I'm weak like that.

I'm enjoying what I've seen of the little people's (Asura) story so far, because it's not very serious. Still bumming around the starting area and working things out.
