DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
I've no idea where I am, I got killed and ended up back at elecktro, died in the water (zombies can stand on water when they're close enough to you fyi), then spawned at Cap Galova, pointed away from the sea and just started running (my logic being I was hopefully pointing in the direction of Palona). Just arrived at some houses when I logged out so no idea where I *actually* am
Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
I managed to get my bearings long enough to find Polana after some wandering in the forests. Stupidly, before then I'd forgot to stock up on food or refill my water bottle so, starving and thirsty, I stumbled towards civilisation while my screen slowly desaturated. The place was littered with zeds but I crawled my way in to the centre and went lootin' in the supermarket. No new weapons to be had, but I did snag a new backpack, some Makarov mags, a watch and some binoculars. Plus, enough food and drink to last me a few more days.

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Bums, managed to spawn at the airfield, get an akm which was then exhausted on a horde only to be replaced with an m16. I then took this, a hunting knife and a few days worth of rations into the wilderness, got turned around and ended up in kovlovkovklava so headed over to nadezhino to fill up the water bottles. 2 mags of 5.56 and 10 mags of 9mm later, they were still spawning around me faster than I could shoot, I saw a gap and took to my heels, only to collapse from exhaustion in the hills near zub, where the still chasing zombies proceeded to eat me.
Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
I don't know how, but this is my 10th day with the same character. I stupidly, idiotically decided to head to the northeast airfield as, bugger it, I was close, having spent the night in Devil's Castle (nice view) and procuring a compass. The airfield was surprisingly empty and devoid of life; climbing a tower and using my binoculars I surveyed the area, only some zeds by the air traffic control centre and some other zeds I assumed were bugging attacking a wall, I should have taken that as a sign... I entered through the back door to that building to have several slugs from a Winchester be shot in my direction. Luckily he was an an awful shot and I got away. In my haste I attracted two zeds and, while quickly dispatching once, his friend clocked me on the head and I went down. I came to with half my blood and managed to give the other zed an emergency craniotomy.
I ran back to Devil's Castle, it's safer there.
EDIT: when I said safer, i obviously didn't account for gravity...
Apparently Rocket (creator) was wearing this at E3

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Arma II 1.62 has just been released, promising lots of stability fixes for the main engine.
Might be worth updating it and then seeing how DayZ is now getting along.

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Seemed pretty stable for me recently, not played it for a couple of weeks but it was fine before then (especially once I got hold of a rifle and somewhere high)
Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
You'll have been using the beta patch to play DayZ already. The 1.62 release is the same as the last beta RC, so nothing new.

I doubt it, unless Steam now applies beta patches to a retail release without asking.friznit wrote:You'll have been using the beta patch to play DayZ already. The 1.62 release is the same as the last beta RC, so nothing new.
Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
You have needed the ARMA beta patch to be able to play Day z for a while now iirc.
Oh and steam has just patched ARMA.
