Looks like Awake has been cancelled. Shame, it's a damn good show.

I was just getting in to this, only seen the first 2 or 3 episodes so I have no idea how out of date I am.Roman Totale wrote:Looks like Awake has been cancelled. Shame, it's a damn good show.

Go ahead and finish it, it's good and they wrap it up in a satisfying enough way.
Re: New season talk type thread thing.
I've heard good things. I like the idea of a US show finishing after relatively few episodes, while also having a proper ending of course.deject wrote:it's good and they wrap it up in a satisfying enough way.

On the recommendation of Mr J, I've been watching Archer - an animated series about a James Bond style agent working at his mother's spy firm. It's hilarious.

I love archer, it was actually Deject that recommended it to me so I guess that already makes it a 5punk favourite of sorts. Did you know Mallory Archer is voiced by the mom from arrested development? The fact that they're pretty identical characters sort of gives it away. Also, I've been watching the the office (US series) I never liked the UK original but somehow I find this version significantly better and actually funny.
danger zone.

Once again I'm remarkably slow on the uptake, but I got the box set of this the other week. Very enjoyable, and Oliphant is great in the role.deject wrote:Just watched the second episode of Justified, and I think I found another great show to watch. Timothy Oliphant plays his role as the hard boiled Marshall brilliantly.

I should probably follow deject's recommendations earlier, rather than wait 2 years.

I only watch the best quality television. Season 3 was incredible, especially the finale.Roman Totale wrote:I should probably follow deject's recommendations earlier, rather than wait 2 years.
Re: New season talk type thread thing.
I've been watching Suits. Not bad.
The trailers made it out to be more of a comedy than it is, in fact it's pretty serious for the most part. Acting and script are top notch, but the episodic stories can be a bit clichéd. Lots of struggling to win a case, followed by an epiphany brought on by a non-related conversation with someone. As Scrubs self-referentially highlights:
Dr. Cox: What in the hell are you talking about?
JD: Oh, I'm just doing this thing where I use a slice of wisdom from someone else's life to solve a problem in my own life.
Jordan: Seems coincidental.
JD: And yet I do it almost every week.
Another slight complaint is that while lawyer speak is not overused, when it is used it's often hard for the layman (read: me) to understand what is going on. Unlike say, Scrubs, where while you might not understand individual words, you get the idea of what is going on. Even if they lay it out in simple terms along side the technical ones, it feel natural. Suits forgoes the simple explanations.
Worth a gander in the goose, or something.

10 episodes later (yes, 10 fourty minute episodes in a day ) I'd move it up from "Not bad" (said in a positive tone btw) to a "very good". If you have a spare goose or two, gander it up.

Re: New season talk type thread thing.
I have also been watching Suits. It's kept me entertained somewhat, worth a shot.
I'm looking forward to the imminent return of Breaking Bad. (Which if you haven't seen it, is pretty damn good. Almost-Dexter like even)

Re: New season talk type thread thing.
Any Breaking Bad fans? Season 5 just started on sunday and it's still gripping me firmly by the arse.
For anyone wanting to get in to it, Season one is a very slow burn, and more of a scene setter for when the action really kicks off in season 2. The first three series' are on netflix.

Re: New season talk type thread thing.
Breaking Bad season 1 and 2 was some of best TV I've seen. I was a bit disappointed with the direction and style of season 3 and haven't bothered to pick it up again, but I really should as I'm sure it's still well above par.

Yep, breaking bad is still one of the best things on telly IMO.

Eureka is totally over now. They did a decent send off. I'll miss it's cheesy deus ex machinas.
