I have a cunning plan....

Post by Wiggy »

I just mentioned this in passing to Friznit and wanted to know what you all thought.

I reckon with me getting another Prophecy, that it may be worth training up some Leadership skills. It is partly what the ship's for, but we'll come to that in a moment. I was thinking of training the following skills up (to start with anyway):

Leadership to lvl 5: 10% bonus to gang members' targeting speed
Armored Warfare to lvl 4: 8% more armor HP
Information Warfare to lvl 4: 8% extra targeting range
Siege Warfare to lvl 4: 8% more shield capacity
Skirmish Warfare to lvl 4: 8% speed boost

Cost isn't an issue, the skills are seeded at 90k each.

Also, I thought about passibly getting a Gang Assist Module. These cost about 250k (on average) and need the relevant skill (i.e. Skirmish Warfare for a Skirmish Warfare module) trained to level 5 (it's a rank 2 skill), and the relevant Specialist skill bought and trained to at least level 1. These skills are more expensive, seeded at 360,000 ISK each.

By the way, if anyone didn't know, Gang Assist Modules can only be fitted to Battlecruisers and Command Ships (Tech 2 Battlecruisers) due to the 99% CPU bonus they get for these modules. Maybe 2 of us could get them, to buff more than one attribute? (Friz?)

:whew: Thoughts?

Sounds good, we could also stay in a gang at all times so we always have the bonuses.

In principle, a very good idea since it can turn the tide in any battle. My only concern is whether you can afford to stop training combat skills to train leadership yet? I am unlikely to be able to train leadership up yet while I work on hauling and and combat skills

That's my concern too friz.

I do want to train some skills up at the moment (Battlecruiser 4, Medium Energy Turret 5, Energy Systems Ops 5 and some drone skills to name a few) but to be honest I don't see a problem in 'staggering' it - i.e. training a few skills to level 1, go work on something else and come back later. Besides, I think if I'm going to be doing this, my role in combat may shift slightly from all-out pummeling to a more support-type role, as I won't be able to fit as many weapons with a Link fitted (it's a high-slot module).

EDIT: Plus the Primary attribute to train leadership skills is Charisma, and you all know how shit I am at that (7 points).

Very good idea, it's part of what I'm doing atm in BS.I to make myself invualable (not that they'd ever kick me out). Only thing is some of the skills are bugged.

Leadership works, armored warfare doesn't, I don't think information warfare does (I'l check that later) siege warfare does, and I'm really not sure about skirmish warfare.

and to finish off, you've forgotten that motherships and titans can use these thing

At least it's a realistic target. When am I ever going to have a mothership? OK, I'd love to have a carrier, but a mothership ain't going to happen for me.

Good idea in theory, but I'd consider a support ship to be a bonus to a combat squadron, not essential. I'm probably wrong, as I'm no Eve combat expert, but I get the impression that a combat sqn would need at least a Battleship as the heavy, a tackler or two in the form of Frigs/AFs/Inties, and an EWAR ship such as Friz's Raven to restrict the enemy. Would we not at least need to be able to field this before we start thinking about the extras?

Maybe out combat vets could give us a better idea of what combat roles are needed in 5punkorp so we can work out what's needed and what we have?
