Soon is going free to play in a couple of weeks, so Anery has suggested we try it (the current free trial) in advance. I've downloaded the 11Gb client and will be having a poke if anyone else is interested. I have to admit, I've heard it's a bit of a grind, but I've also heard it has changed quite a bit recently. Worth a shot for free I think, even if it's only to tickle my MMONG bone until TSW and GW2 come out.

Re: Aion
Everything ive heard about it suggests that it is everything I think is wrong about MMOs. That being said, free is free, so im up for giving it a look. The worst that can happen is being proved correct
Re: Aion
Every MMO I know of that has gone F2P has been a massive grindfest. Moral of the story: stop making grindfest MMOs people! They don't sell!
Re: Aion
Agreed and agreed. I did see a few comments suggesting that this one is taking a different tack, but I'll believe that when I see it.

Re: Aion
I did have it installed, it was briefly free before until it seemed to discover I wasn't from North America, this was the NCSoft version - I guess Europe has a different distributor. I calculate you'll be bored of it before I download it again.
Re: Aion
As predicted that didn't last long. I played it for around the same amount of time that it took to download. Admittedly I didn't sample any flying or the apparently better than average PvP, but the starting area alone was enough to have me sitting staring blankly at the screen trying to will myself to do the next quest. I can't really think of anything bad to say about it, but similarly I can't think of anything good.
