5punky trip!
Gentlemen!
It's been a while since our last bash, and since none are happening any time soon, I got a little idea. Remember when Grimmie got the idea to go to New York and everyone got all enthusiastic but then bailed? Well, I'd still like to do that but since it's a nightmare to get 5punkers organised I was thinking the following:
Why don't we all go to an event together? Since we have to buy our tickets beforehand there is a smaller chance of ninja concerts, and these things are always more fun with a group of people. The first thing that came to mind is comic-con, because it's in America and people seem to like going there. That's the only idea I've had though so as usual I'm open to suggestions. It doesn't necessarily have to be in the US but we speak the language and it's not unreasonably expensive.
I can sort of estimate what the unison answer 'll be but I can try right?

I think the main barrier for this sort of thing is cost.
Certainly if you can find something similar in Yurop it'd be more likely a lot of us will go.

Well, cons is just one idea. I realize it's probably a bit too 'nerdy' for some so there's probably other stuff we can do.

Well if you're worried about cost than that's not the right place. That and two hour lines.
There are other theme parks we can go to though, there's a great one in Holland but nothing on the scale of disneyland.

Re: 5punky trip!
I dunno, the cost of Disneyland Paris compared to going to Comic Con is extremely different. Just getting to San Diego would be around £500-600, once you add tickets and hotels you are probably looking at a grand each. We went to Disneyland Paris a couple years back and the queues were not that bad, you just have to go in a weekday, during term time, and not in the middle of summer. When its a bit more off peak the queues are no worse than any other theme park. I've had much worse at Alton Towers.

Well, the only time I went there was before they introduced the euro and I was about 10 or 11, so it's probably changed a lot. I had a quick look on the website and it's about 1000 pounds for 2 nights with 6 people* in May (includes tickets and such), that's more reasonable than I expected. This might be a hard one to clear with your spouses/children though.
*In a bungalow park, hotels are far more expensive.

Re: 5punky trip!
Could be a Music Festival?, there's plenty of 5punkers with experience of a variety of them.
Would be fairly cheap, travel and ticket being the big costs.

I like this idea, but the chances of it happening for me are approaching zero

I'm not a big fan of music festivals, but if enough people are you could have a go at this.mrbobbins wrote:Could be a Music Festival?, there's plenty of 5punkers with experience of a variety of them.

I'd quite like to go to America, but I think the cost might be a bit too much. Not sure a music thing would work as everyone would have fairly different tastes. Hmm, need to ponder some events.
