5punk YouTube Channel

Post by Thompy »

Could we use one?

I'm thinking of doing some game recordings, starting with BF3, which will most likely be shit, but it got me thinking. Other than the videos I initially thought of, it might be good to record some 5punk sessions including TS. Then I thought if I did that they could go on a 5punk channel rather than my own. It could then be used by anyone to upload stuff, not just games but real life stuff too, as long as it gives a good representation of us.

I figured there might be some interest considering the podcast thing had an aim to reach a wider audience, but I'm guessing not many of you, if any, do anything kind of game recording. But as I say, it could be used for stuff from bashes etc too.

Does someone here already lay claim to 5punk@gmail.com or 5punkgaming@gmail.com?

I've often thought of the same thing, I'm glad someone finally put it forward.
To add an extra to it, there are a lot of people doing this at the moment such as the yogscast, totalbiscuit and mack and mesh. These are the more famous ones but if we could get a hold of anyone (that is similarly minded as us) it might be interesting to record a playsession with them to get our name out there.

Have you actually listened to our TS chatter?

It's the occasional conversation mixed with burping (Pete), copious mild swearing (me), general swearing (everyone else) and terrible terrible jokes (Roman).

Factor in the in jokes and our general TS chatter is not Youtube material.

However, we did do some podcasts at some point as proper dicussions, they'd be great to stick on youtube.

I'm gonna record another Jockbash podcast, and edit the Belgium Bash one soon.
Got frustrated after an hour of editing when Soundbooth crashed.

I think there's difference between chatter and two or three people doing a co-op game or a "lets play" together. It would have to be a proper narration rather than just the occasional chirp.

I can see us doing good on things like Titty quest, WoW and BEEFs

While TS chatter over a game might need a bit of editing, the idea is a nice one. With a channel we can all post to, there could be all number of things up there.

Perhaps people might want to do stuff in small groups like the Yogscast stuff, where they either show a game to someone else and get their reaction, or they both discover one together. I wasn't really sold on the Yogscast minecraft stuff at first, but it really grew on me.

People could also post game reviews - I think Nickface did one of NWN2 once, or record their first impressions. The Blood Bowl tournament could be televised. Arty people could do game mashups and musical people could accompany them.

Someone could volunteer for editing/managing the channel so we don't have unwatchably long stuff or ten copies of epic sax guy on there.

I was thinking that too. Edited match highlights would be better, but obviously would take more effort.

Actually, how flexible is the replay feature in BB? Might come in handy.

Edited highlights of matches would be the only way. I wouldn't want to watch 30+ seconds per turn watching someone decide on a move to make.

I've been thinking of this for a while too actually. I'd quite like to revisit old games now I've a PC capable of running them (plus I've been looking for an excuse to replay NWN2) and I've spent what feels like 30 years updating Oblivion following the Beautifying Oblivion thread on the Steam forums to the letter. It'd be nice for those of you who can't be arsed doing it yourselves to see it. I can edit sound and video too if need be.

I've set one up and will post the info in the waugh.

Some simpler username options were taken already so it is what it is. If it's not appropriate or anyone has better ideas just say so.

I'll just leave it as open access for now, which I can't see being a problem. Might be better to have a moderator but then they'd have to dole out the password and change it constantly.

If anyone has concerns/suggestions speak ye now.

I've got a little idea. In December Trine 2 comes out, and I know at least some 5punkers enjoyed the first one. Now, Trine 2 has three player co-op and is reasonably cheap, so if three of us buy it we could do a playthrough for our channel. thoughts?

So apparently this is out now, we'll have to decide who does the audio and video recording and who does the editing, but I'm still up for this. If money's an issue. Christmas sale is coming up and this'll probably be amongst it. I hope.

Nope.

I have it. Not sure if it's fun or not, it's quite simple. I do love puzzle adventures/platformers though and I tend to play for the brainteaser rather than the fun. If that makes sense. Enjoying it anyway.

I saw there were some uploads of the NWN2 stuff, but the names are a little unintuitive with no description of what happens in each one. I'm sure it's something that you were planning to add later, but while I'm no SEO expert, I think it's true that brand new uploads have the biggest chance of getting views - so it's maybe best if they get descriptions/searchable names as they are uploaded, if that's possible with your setup.

They were all meant to be hidden, there's a load stretching back to character creation that need to be edited and re-named.
