5punk Game of the Year 2011

Post by Dog Pants »

It's the time of year for the 5punk awards again. Please nominate your entries for the Game of the year. Nominees should be the best, or most 5punky, game released this year. Silly japes, hilarious bugs, even great gameplay should be taken into account. Maybe all three! Nominations end in a week or so or when I can be arsed setting up polls on this thread.

Battlefield 3 has so far proven to get a large amount of 5punkers together, and there are moments of intense unfiltered rage (it wouldn't be beef otherwise) but we have proven many times that we kick ass and take names like the best and have fun doing it as a team.

So yeah, threef.

Tempted to say Skyrim again, but it's not really silly 5punky enough. Terraria gets a nomination, but it never hooked more than one or two of us really. Minecrack still has an appeal for serious 5punkiness (now there's oxymoron for you). Day of Sex seemed pretty transient, BEEF Number X does seem to have grabbed our limited imagination but I don't see the ravings about it I used to (probably cos we're getting old to be fair). ArmA2 still only appeals to a minority of 1 5punker (although to the point I literally own the whole VOLCBAT community now)...so I think I must plump for Minecrack as GoTY.

To be fair, I did post a few times in the ARMA thread about starting up again, but either you ignored it because you couldn't be arsed setting up our server again or my posts just got buried. Was quite fun when Berk, you, Pnut and myself had a rumble on it.

Mostly cos after I set up the server we played once or twice then it went offline again ;) I think it's fairly safe to say ArmA2 is certainly not GOTY material :P

Terraria rocked as a 5punky game, must say.

The server is up and running still, somewhere, I think they changed the IP.

wouldn't mind an occasional run about.

Granted, it's mostly the only way we can share our experiences in single player games, but Skyrim, Deus Ex and The Witcher 2 all generated a lot of posts of us talking about playing them. Minecraft, B33F and Portal 2 have done the most to get us playing together.

We've had a lot of new stuff to play, so haven't had to resort to old classics like SWAT and JOPS where japery was the rule rather than the exception, and have had to rely on Bethesda for hilarious in-game bugs.
