Mwahahahaha! My evil plan nears completion.
Re: Time for a fresh new beard?
The background is brilliant, a rare combination of high sci-fi and gritty apocalypse. The rules are quite nice too once you get past the crazy character creation.

The generator I found is a godsend for this game (unless you are joose and like convoluted character gen)
Re: Time for a fresh new beard?
Agreed. It's still a bit of a nause, but a lot better than flying blind.

Re: Time for a fresh new beard?
Right, I'm almost ready to go with the first game of this. Don't worry about characters for now, the first game is going to be a short intro to the system/setting. You can use your own if you like, but you won't need them if you haven't got to it yet.
Question is, it's almost Christmas, so do you want me to start as soon as its ready, or wait till after holidays?

Count me in if I don't need to make a character now.

Re: Time for a fresh new beard?
Well, that's unanimous then! I shall start it as soon as its ready. This next week could be either manic or dead quiet for me, so I'm not making any promises, but it *should* be ready *at some point* before the end of the week. Could be tomorrow, could be Friday. We shall see.
Yep, no need to make a character for this intro game. If any of you have, and want to use them, poke me on a PM or Xfire or whatever, and I'll see if they would fit. Otherwise, I'll be kinda making them for you (other than things like names). You will see what I mean when we start. Also, if you haven't made a character yet, you can theoretically use your character from this in future games. I would even let you tweak them a bit (as long as they stay within character creation rules). Again, you will see what I mean.Count me in if I don't need to make a character now.
Re: Time for a fresh new beard?
Am I too late to join in? Can I use one of your characters?

Re: Time for a fresh new beard?
Sorry Fab, I want to try and keep this smallish, so I don't really want to go above four players. This intro game will be fairly short though, so I might change my mind after, if it feels like there is room for one more in the proper game.
Re: Time for a fresh new beard?
No probs! I'll just watch then

Re: Time for a fresh new beard?
As you have probably figured out, I decided to wait till after the holidays in the end. It was pointed out to me that had I started then, we would have played for two days then had a break of about a week, which would have been daft.
I'm all ready to go, and I believe TSD is back this weekend at some point, so we can start thinking about kicking off, I guess. Yay!
I'll start a proper thread for the game itself, but there is a tiny amount of prep work first. I was going to let people pick their characters as we went along, but on reflection I think it would be better/easier for you to all choose at the start. I've done four characters for the four players, each taking one of the classic roles that you would expect in a team (that's not to say there are only 4 roles, but these are the basic essentials). Broadly speaking, they are as follows:
Shooty person
Melee person
Social interaction person
Hacker
A couple of things to note: these are not full starting characters, they are cut down and slightly less awesome than what you will have for the first "proper" game. This is partially to make the intro game simpler, and partially to reflect that they are average doods, not people selected by an elite underground organisation of universe police. I'll give you brief backgrounds for each guy during the game, but in short they are an office worker who goes shooting for sport (shooty person), a bouncer for a local club (melee person) a businessman (social person) and an IT geek (hacker).
The other thing is that you shouldn't be put off picking the hacker based on hacking in SR. Its totally different, and a shitload easier in EP. Its not really and more complicated than combat. In fact, it shares a lot of rules with combat. Its basically combat, but on a computer.
Mrs Joose (munchkin) has grabbed Melee, but the other three are up for grabs. GRAB THEM!
