I never played the original Red Orchestra, sadly, but I've got this one pre-ordered and it looks seriously good.

Re: Red Orchestra 2
I preordered it as well, owning the original red orchestra gave me a nice 20% discount and I was planning to buy it anyway so that came in pretty handy. It also has a German single player (alongside a Russian one) so I'm curious about that. I hope it's going to be a bit less fiddly than the first one though.

Re: Red Orchestra 2
I have the original, so I took advantage of the extra discount and pre-ordered a few weeks ago.
I think it could be a good 5punky game, but if RO is anything to go by, it'll be almost ARMA like in its depth and brutal initial learning curve, just slightly less milsimmy.
Tanks for example are quite hard to use when there's not a number of you crewing them. Thankfully infantry work isn't hard to get into, but it is hard. No running and gunning. Taking cover is the order of the day in RO games.
It does however, make getting kills that much sweeter.

Apparently they've added AI tank crews so you get in a tank on your own and the difficulty can be set as well, though I may have misheard the last bit.

Difficulty settings? In a mulitplayer game?
Re: Red Orchestra 2
I really do like the look of this. What I've read about it is very interesting.

Mulits? In WWII? Surely they had better taste in hairstyles then.buzzmong wrote:Difficulty settings? In a mulitplayer game?
But seriously, difficulty settings wasn't the right choice of words here, what I meant was that you could make it a bit more arcady by turning off 'the getting shot in the leg makes you slow' etc. But like I said I wasn't sure, and right now I can't be arsed finding proof.

Re: Red Orchestra 2
If it exists, I think that'll probably either be on the single player, or part of server preferences (eg, like choosing hardcore servers in Cod).
Re: Red Orchestra 2
This is out today (well, last night technically about 9:00). I see on Steam a few 5punkers have bought it, I know I have. Look at it, it's pretty:

The cocking handles move!
I'm expecting somewhere between BEEF and ARMA.

Re: Red Orchestra 2
I had a go at it last night and am really, really liking it. It's very reminiscent of COD:UO, but in a good way. Slow paced combat seems to be more my kind of thing. Also bolt-action rifles.

It's out. From what I have heard it could have used another month of polishing and bugfixing.buzzmong wrote:It's out is it?

Well, duh, it's a Tripwire game. You expect patches that bring the polish, much like you expect Obsidian to release bug fixing patches for quite a while after a releasedeject wrote:It's out. From what I have heard it could have used another month of polishing and bugfixing.

What I miss in this game is some proper squad play, randoms just don't cut it. So Deject, Buzz and Dog Pants, just give me a shout when you want to team up.

Re: Red Orchestra 2
Also, did anyone else get the digital deluxe edition? I did because it was a mere 4 euros difference but I didn't get my unlocks. Mind you, I kind of prefer it this way since now I can work for them like everybody else, but it's still odd.

Re: Red Orchestra 2
Considering achievements don't appear to be working well, I wouldn't be surprised the unlocks don't. I'll have a quick check now as I've not been online with it yet.Mr. Johnson wrote:Also, did anyone else get the digital deluxe edition? Edit: Yeap, not there.
Stats and Achievements are noted as borked as well. Another thing to wait to be fixed.

Re: Red Orchestra 2
First patch should be landing "today". However, that's "today" in USA time. So probably around midnight or later for GMT'ers.
Said patch fixes unlocks amongst a few other small things.

Re: Red Orchestra 2
The patch is there, I can now use my unlocks. Don't go into empty servers though, they tend to crash.
