Films of games

Post by spoodie »

I finally got around to seeing Doom yesterday and it's probably the best film based on a game, which isn't saying much. At least they made an effort to appease the fanboys with plenty of references. The FPS bit was okay but there's no proper demons in it! :(

Also I'm not going to shut up about films based on games
edit: ninja edit, not games based on films

I quite liked Resident Evil. It was a fairly decent action film, but with zombies too. It remained just about credible within it's setting, which most don't. Apocalypse was quite the opposite unfortunately. Many zombies died to make that film. What a waste.

In vaguely related news, has anyone seen the trailer for the new Pirates of the Caribbean film, and if so did you spot that the bad guy is Cthulhu?

Told ya.

The religous nuts would explode if there were demons. They went crazy and tried to ban constantine, beauces that had demons in it.

I also liked Res Evil 1 but I think Doom is marginally better, it's close. Res 2 sucks balls from what I remember. Pirates 2 does look good but have you seen the Superman trailer? :excited:

There's a bit in a Jackie Chan film called City Hunter that has a good Street Fighter 2 bit in, Chan dressed and Chun Li and everything. :ninja: :cheese:

If someone can tell me a good way to convert a DVD to DivX I will do just that part of the film and make it available on the infraweb, it's less than 5 mins worth I think

I guess that was obvious, duh!

I'll bear AutoGK in mind if/when I need it, thanks.

Holy hell! That's amazing! After viewing the clip, I've concluded I must find this movie and watch it over and over again.

The rest of the film is pretty bad, even for a Chan fan like me. The dubbing on the DVD I have is very very bad

For the record, I immediately ordered a used copy of "City Hunter" for $2 through some video store on Amazon, and me and my friends had a great time laughing our asses off at it. :w00t:
