Be amazed and have a smile on your face.

It's like a balls out silly Just Cause 2.

I think I might quite like this.

At least someone is listening. The first Saint's Row was a crappy GTA-knockoff, but the second pushed up the silliness sliders to 10. Now it seem the knobs have fallen off those sliders and max isn't even 11 any more. If Duke Nukem had even one of those ideas, people would have been praising its innovation, at least some developers have recognised their own series strengths and play to them. Just Cause is po-faced by comparision.

Super, I really enjoyed SR2. I thought the vehicle handling mechanics were fine in the last game, so will be interesting to see what they're like now.

Problem: comes out around the same time as Skyrim.

The tank wasn't so impressive when it couldn't damage the buildings. My expectation are skewed by Battlefield.

I've not played any of these and I don't suppose I will. Silliness for the sake of silliness is okay in smaller games, but doesn't that get a bit tired?

I have SR, but I didn't play for very long. The controls made it near unplayable and I think I was unable to progress past a sewage truck section.
This looks fun though.

Hahaha, that looks amazing. No pretence of any kind of realism, just lots of opportunity to piss about. I lolled several times, not least at the dance he finished off with.

I could definitely go for a bit of that preposterousness, great fun.

I certainly didn't like the second one, I think I played it about 5 times before giving up on it and deleting it; to me it felt like I was forced to act silly and I thought the game was incredibly poorly designed. It just felt like a bad game to me.

This impression is what has put me off. FUN IS MANDATORY! And there doesn't seem to be any character or charm to the "humour", like you'd see with Double Fine games.

The controls put me off SR 2 also, couldn't play it for more than 5 minutes but this seems to have fixed all that and combined decent graphics.

I finally got around to completing SR2 after reading this. Last mission was a piece of piss compared to the others.

The side missions were always great fun. Rather than being a grind for Respect (which you need to do the main missions) they were really good mini-games of their own. Rather enjoyed the insurance fraud one - you have to throw yourself in front of cars and feign injury. If you completed several levels of them you also got permanent perks, like extended sprinting, increased body armour/health, unlimited ammo for certain guns etc.

Something i do like about SR2: The protagonist is an arse.

In most of the 3d GTAs i remember, there was some sort of 'unwillingness' about the lead character (especialy the later ones). Which was a bit confusing when you'd watch a cut scene about not wanting trouble, and then go murderising coppers with a car

SR2: The gangs are Gits, but You are the biggest twat in the game, and it shows.

Also, just played the Brotherhood set of missions from start to end last night.

Grim. Very Grim...
