DNF is out. Pigs are airborne, hell is chilly.

I could, if I so wished, buy Duke Nukem Forever. Right now. On Steam.

I have absolutely no desire to, but the fact that I could is messing with my head. TOO MUCH CHANGE! :shudder:

Stuck it on my rental list for Xbox. I'm not paying £30 for a PC version I can't sell on.

Guardian didn't give it a very good review:

The comments section made me die a little inside.

Eurogamer gave it one hell of a negative review as well.

I'm not surprised that it didn't live up to expectations- it never could have. It seems like they had a goal of having an insane level of interactivity (pinball machines, etc) but somehow that got in the way of a coherent game.
I'm eager to see more gameplay footage though, just to see.

My brother has picked it up, so I'll probably get hold of it in a week or two.

From what I've read the game itself doesn't actually *play* badly. From a technical view it's apparently quite good, plays smoothly, controls are responsive, doesn't crash etc...and is quite polished in that regard, it's just pretty much every review I've read has said the actual gameplay is boring and repetitive, with all the annoying features from a 2007 game such as needing quicktime events to do everything and having fast regenerating health.

On the otherside though, I've read quite a number of positive reviews about it being completely non serious and actually quite fun in places with some excellent scripted scenes. I don't know whether those reviewers are just being kind and avoiding saying "Scripted scenes do not make good gameplay".

Still, I suppose I'll find out.

I played it for about an hour last night, it wasn't exactly fun. I didn't even really get to see any boobs.

Probably one of them truisms.

I'm glad I didn't pay any money for what I just played, about an hour as well.
