Forum Signatures!

Post by HereComesPete »

Random thought I had early am today whilst not sleeping, if we did have forum sigs, what would yours be?

I debated with myself about having something witty or something memorable, would it be serious or stupid etc etc. In the end I settled for something I say quite a lot and is both memorable and funny, serious and witty.

My sig would be - Your mum lol

Notice how I've used 'lol' in place of punctuation, beautiful isn't it.

Mine would be an enormous glassock picture which you'd all have seen hundreds of times before and a string of completely out of context quotes from other forumites, because I would be unable to express my personality/individuality through my actual posts and have to remind everyone how funny/awesome I had been on various occasions on a per-post basis.

Underneath it would say "This is why we don't have forum signatures".

Sorry, I'm being a massive grump there - it was a good question. I'd probably nick the b3tan's 'Or is it?'s MO of having something tailing all my posts that potenitially called into question the veracity of everything I posted.

It's like Youtube in my own home. Very humbling.

I had a quote from a past US president about not getting offended, but I can't find it. So sticking to Pete's theme I'd use some animated clan tag for a clan consisting of me and my mate, but it's okay because we're l33t.

Related thing; on the Nightfall (SLA) forum a couple of people have little bars which rotate through various arrogant statements about their beliefs. Tea drinker. Anarcho syndicalist. British. Shit car driver. Small penis. Insufferably smug. And so on. They make me glad we don't use them.

I am glad we don't have signatures. All that extra stuff takes up valuable vertical space on the page. On the one forum I go to that does have signatures, I just have last.fm widgets that show my last 5 played tracks and my top 5 all time artists.

I would have:

50 Cent
Guns
A Ferrari
Cannabis leaves
A large chested woman's chest
A quote from a Jason Statham film

Having seen other forum signatures I believe it to be a badge of true masculinity to have those things in there.

The Beef stats sigs are the ones that wind me up the most. I can't explain why. They've mostly been replaced by Tank stats now.

The only sig I have on any forum is the Bohemia one with my lolclan advertised there - but that fulfills a functional role more than anything. If I were to have one on 5punk, it would of course be a tribute to eRabbit and GIANT COCKS, although not necessarily in that order.

Also, random claim to fame: I once made it into no less than 3 people's sigs on the Scrapheap Challenge forum for my quip about Star Ruler and Metric Deathstars. I got internet points that day.

An oversized banner with a waving Belgian flag on it, because obviously I'm super proud of my country and want to share with the world just how awesome we are. It would also have a smiley that fires revolvers and wears a cowboy hat with underneath a text in sparkly rainbow letters: BEGLUIM NR. 1!!1!!!1 And a smiley that takes a crap on Britain cause clearly we're better than all of you.

We are taking the piss right?

Here's my proposed sig. I'll manually add it to all my future posts.

Is that the one that goes along the lines of "it's stupid to get offended when no offence is intended, and it's stupid when it is intended too"?

Bah, I can't remember who that was either now. That's going to bug me.

That's the one. I did find a similar one from Mark Twain about hitting someone with a brick.
