Minecraft PVP on or off?

Post by spoodie »

By default it's on and that's how I've left it, so people can try it. Although unless we want some competitiveness it might be more of an annoyance if we accidentally hit each other while collaborating on a building or whatever.

What do you think?

We're a danger to ourselves, let alone each other.

Is there much point in PvP in minecraft? I havent played it in a while, but if it's just slapping each other with swords and going OOF then there's really not much point.

Not the way we play it. It's there for people who want to make there own games within Minecraft I suppose. Set up two forts, have a battle, that kind of thing. And that's not really practical with the current state of the software.

/edit
It's off. I'll leave this thread/poll open for now for further comments or opinions.

There really isn't much point in it being on at the moment as far as I can see. Main problem being there are no fight dynamics. As Shada kinda said, you'd just be standing next to one another swinging, or running away. Bow and arrow would be a bit more fun, but last I read they're not working yet.

Off
I think this game would thrive through promoting cooperative playing.

Off because the fight mechanic isn't very interesting. Should we want to kill other players we could still do so through the medium of fiendish traps, which is far more entertaining.
