while Orovan talks camilla looks the group over with indifference trying not to stand out too much against the forest greeneryGnome wrote:many sounds have i heard before but those of this one i do not beleive i have come across in past, i am known as Orovan Gnarledtrunk and this is my companion Camilla, as Thor mentioned i recently met him while i was travelling through this area and agreed the forest was in need of assistance

the gnome walks to Thors side with the camel abreast, he has dirty blonde matted hair and looks fairly young for a gnome with turquise eyes wearing leather armour with a wooden shield and a couple of short spears strapped to his back

I've not hung around to chit-chat with 'em, but I'd wager they've got something to do with the trees being chopped down. Also seen the odd orc taking down deer and the like and draggin' them off. Neither are too subtle at coverin' their traces, I can show you the general area, shouldn't be too hard to track them, if that's what you're thinking of doing.

If anyone has Knowledge: Nature, you can make a check for information on Orcs and Goblins in general.
You travel for about an hour deeper into the woods until the path branches off into a slightly worn dirt track, and then into undergrowth.
Orovan recognises this area as the last place he saw a goblin being chased by an orc - and promptly swatted against a tree with a heavy club.
Everyone can make a Search or Survival check to find tracks in the ground.

I have the skill, but no points in it:Grimmie wrote:If anyone has Knowledge: Nature, you can make a check for information on Orcs and Goblins in general.

Edit: Thor's face creases in concentration, it's clear he's thinking really hard. Then he realises he doesn't really know anything goblins or orcs after all.
I have both, but not sure if I do a roll for both, or just use the one I'm best at:Grimmie wrote:Everyone can make a Search or Survival check to find tracks in the ground.

I do have the Track feat, which works off my survival check, I think. Let me know if I'm doing it wrong. Saving the 1's for combat ofc.

I have neither. But I can sing a song about it.Grimmie wrote:Everyone can make a Search or Survival check to find tracks in the ground.

For goblins and orcs, wherever they go.
He's wasting his time
Getting covered in grime
For they'll have fled at the thought of my bow

Survival and search can both be used untrained, they have a little black box by them on the character sheet.Roman Totale wrote:I have neither. But I can sing a song about it.
To do untrained skill checks, just roll d20 and add the associated modifier (in search's case, Intelligence).
Unfortunately, Knowledge is a trained-only skill.FatherJack wrote:I have the skill, but no points in it
Your druid, however, has a +2 on Knowledge: Nature checks.
Luckily your eagle-eyed ranger spots the tracks within a minute or two.
The soil is disturbed, there's been a group tramping through the woods and the tracks are still fairly fresh.
You reckon there are two or three sets of footprints, two lots of smaller feet, and a single set of big feet.
Want to follow them?

You can only follow tracks with a Survival roll and the Track feat.
Luckily, FJ has those, and passed the check.
I was just making sure you guys wanted to depart, in case I accidentally transposed you somewhere you didn't want to be.
It's late afternoon.
Edit
To clarify:
You can find tracks with survival or search.
You can only follow them with survival and track
nature
Roll(1d20)+2:
10,+2
Total:12
i assume theres no need for spot and search checks anymore?
edit: whoops added the wrong modifier, will just take it off

Nope, you've found the trail, so no more need for searching. Sorry if I didn't make it clear!
You know a little about Goblins and Orcs.
On Orcs, you know they believe that to survive they must conquer as much territory as they can possibly manage. Individual tribes have even been known to fight one another in a claim for land. Gruumsh, their one-eyed deity tells them that all other species are inferior and all worldly goods belong to the Orcs. Orcs honour the rules of war, such as honouring a truce, and have even been known to work with other races - but only when it's convenient to them.
On Goblins, you know that they are sneaky and favour dirty tricks in combat, though are often bullied by bigger creatures. Typically a Bugbear will take control of a band of Goblins to further his own material gain. You know Goblins often form alliances with Worgs, and ride them into combat.
---
The trail leads off south for about half a mile before cutting into the side of a steep hill. Beneath undergrowth is a crude door made of badly nailed-together wooden planks on a simple hinge. You reckon that if you weren't looking for it you wouldn't have seen it.
