5podcast Episode 0: The Pilot

Post by Grimmie »

Thanks to everyone who helped make this pilot, especially Dog Pants to drumming up support after I briefly mentioned trying to make podcast on teamspeak a few weeks back.

This was a fun first attempt, and I think we learned a little about producing stuff for a listening audience. (Don't shout, don't get distracted by Greek graffiti websites, don't make penguin jokes.) I for one am looking forward to making another episode perhaps in a fortnight or a month's time. We managed to record 3 hours of crap, and Wiggy meticulously chopped it down to half that time, so big thanks to you, Wigster.

Take a listen and let us know what you think, any constructive criticism you might have, suggestions for improvement etc. If you'd like to take part in the next episode (if indeed you think it's worth continuing!) then let us know here.

Thanks!

Damn, I totally wanted to moan about the dragon age trailer. Stupid EA and their total misrepresentation of things.

Hopefully I'll be up and running for the next one.

Downloading now.
Just a note: Spodcast already exists. And I've heard of it, so it's probably quite well known.

5pudcast was suggested during proceedings.
5punkcast seems a bit obvious.

5pudcast sounds like it shoud be the name. It'll also mean someone can create a spunk covered potato as an icon for it.

I enjoyed Darwinia :(

Some links to things mentioned would be really handy for the notes above. The article on Steam saving Introversion, and the BP ad about "caring for the little people", for example.

I will probably end up never listening to this, so tell me - did I manage to sound as suave and manly as I do in real life?

I can smell old spice whenever you speak.

I'm listening now and surprisingly good quality audio. That's some positive feedback for you right there.

I think that even though this took me nine hours to do, it was well worth the effort. I'd certainly do it again if asked, anyway :)

Is it mostly just talking though? There are plenty of hour long podcasts that are only like 15-20MB. Methinks it should have been encoded at a lower bitrate, etc...

Missing - 1 dummy, 1 rattle. Reward given for returning them to large angry man-child.

Reward may well include biting.
