Game related jokes

Post by spoodie »

Do you know any game related jokes? I've been looking and I'm beginning to think there are no actual funny game related jokes, but some jokes do exist.

This question was inspired by One Life Left, they're doing a show (with a live audience) called One Laugh Left. But I guess if some decent material appears in this thread you could use it in your/our podcast.

Here's one I stole from somewhere else:
How do you get Pikachu on a bus?

Poke him on.

Just the normal "You know you've been playing too much X when..." jokes.

Like imagining Sims style status bars flashing when you've stayed up too late.

So I think the conclusion is that there are no good, traditional, game related jokes, ie. a joke that a stand-up could use. Perhaps the problem is that the jokes are either too broad and obvious or too niche and nerdy, with nothing in between. They both make groans, not laughs.

Although there's no doubt game humour does work. I watched Scott Pilgrim yesterday and that makes use of gaming culture for laughs and it works very well.

Then, the funny things (IMO) most stand-ups do are stories/observations, rather than straight jokes.

what berk said, most standup i watch is "situational comedy" if thats even a term, recalling hillarious events that happened to them or they witnessed happening, and are things the majority can relate to in some way

the problem with game jokes are they are generally inner circle jokes, whether thats just us or a perticular games fanbase, a person who only plays fps games isnt likely to get jokes about strategy games if theyve not played them or have no interest in them

athough there are quite a few different ways to make jokes about games, ie just games in general, a genre, a specific game or even the players and companies. i dont think ive ever seen many jokes about a specific event thats happened in a game probably because no one besides the people who witnessed it would have a clue what the fuck was being joked about, i think leeroy jenkins in the closest ive seen to this
