You trail him for a few blocks to the gauss train where he hops onto a line to Downtown. On the assumption you follow him, he takes an hour so's journey to a nearby Downtown sector. Again on foot, he trudges through the rain for twenty minutes or so and enters a shoddy looking bar with a battered low-rider parked outside.

I'll buy a drink (perk of the job) and settle myself somewhere comfortable within his line of sight, but not right in his face.
I'll point my laser-microphone towards him and have a listen in to any conversation while I nurse my pint.

The bar is a murky saloon with metal playing too loud to be background noise but too quiet for metal. Most patrons are sitting in small groups having boistrous conversations, a few are sat alone or in pairs apparently drowning their sorrows. In one corner are four Johannas, low ranking by the looks of it. Your man is with one of the rowdy groups, and it looks like he knows the others well.
