(Notice how I stopped posting on Tuesday? Wonder why..)

The Spider you saw earlier is currently hiding in amongst the writhing black mass of the ceiling, tugging thick strands of glistening semi-transparent silk from its abdomen to reinforce the nest. You barely spot it.

It seems to be more intent on handling the web than taking another bite at Forenrond though.

I suppose once Bart's in we should progress. Torch in hand. I think spiders hate fire. Although I suppose we should be clearing them out.

Any suggestions?

I thought I'd asked a few things here, but seems I haven't.

First up, what exits do we have?
Secondly, can I get a clear shot off at Mr Big Spider? If so, I will (although I might regret it).

Your exits are the two windows you've just come through, and the barred door you tried to smash down.

It's a little dark, but your torch illuminates the place well enough that if you juggled your items around or stuck it into one of the holders on the wall, you could take a potshot at Mr. Spider, yep.

Small temple. A likely story.

I'll take a crack at Mr Spider;

Total:21

Roll(1d6)+0:
4,+0
Total:4 (or 8 if I get my attack bonus onto damage)

or into one of the holders at the ends of Barts arms. I'll have the torch in my left hand, hitting-stick in my right.

Let's have your initiatives for this surprise round then, you've caught Mr Spider flat-footed. All eight of them, it seems.

Your arrow hits true and splits the spider's body open, bubbling black ichor dripping down the shaft of your arrow as its legs curl up and get tangled in the massive web on the ceiling. You can almost hear it screech out in agony in the otherwise silent chapel.

The mass of black spiders start to emerge from deeper points in the web, from all over the chapel. The wriggling group of spider bodies that once looked to be two or three hundred strong now spew forth from every crack and crevice in walls, mounting in number till the mass grows fives times the size.

Bart's go!
