E3 Ustreams
Anyone watching the E3 conferences on G4tv? Just finished watching the Microsoft one.
Looked ok I guess, new Kinect device looked cool, but Star Wars Lightsaber game application of it looked a little iffy at best.
Nice to see them pricing the new xbox the same at current retail price and shipping announced right there and then

Yeah, I was watching with the added commenaty on twit.tv. Nothing particularly impressive in the games videos. Hopefully Kinetic/Move devs have been paying attention to the Wii so we can avoid the quality chasm you see there, but I'm not holding my breath.
edit: Oh, and if the slim 360 is a proper rebuild, hurrah. Should mean less red rings. Always welcome.

So new Medal of Honor announcement from EA/DICE looks basically like COD4.
Might still be gd though!

I'm cautiously optimistic about MoH. Remember that the first one set the bar for WW2 shooters, and was moderately ground breaking at the time. It brought us a scene I still use as an example of how to do a game right - the Omaha Beach landing. The devs have already stated that as well as some of the special horses shennanigans seen in MW, you'll be playing as a (somewhat) average joe too in the form of an Army Ranger and an Apache gunner (I did say somewhat average). They're trying to push an angle of respectfully representing warfare and characterising the men who fight it. This says to me less gung-ho MW-style run and gun, and more chaos and fear. In addition, they're brought in the Frostbite engine (of BC2 fame) for the multiplayer, which is enough alone to pique my interest.

Indeed, which makes it really weird.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:Nope, frostbite's the whole engine.
Obviously though in this day and age with most model tools not being bespoke anymore, it does mean that they hopefully only have to develop the assets once and just export them differently.
As a side note, EA's new GunClub (check the news) gives you early access to the M24 (for BC2 players) and also to the beta of the new MoH (BC2 players + preorder).

I was wary of the 3DS, knowing how headache/eyestrain-inducing 3D films are, but when I found out about the 3D depth control (3D! - Mainly 3D! - Quite 3D! - Ordinary 2D!) I was sold. Especially with the announced line up and the DS/DSi catalogue that I haven't ventured in to yet.spoodie wrote:The most interesting thing I've seen from the videos of E3 is Nintendo's 3DS.
Add on to that the Wii titles (Oh god that Kirby trailer gave me diabetes I must have it now) it looks like Ninty will be commandeering much of my wallet this year.
