They are called BA biscuits.. and yes they do bung you up.. I spent 6 years in the mob (Royal Engineers) and had my fill of ratpacks but the boiled sweets and dextrose tablets were nice... They also supply a tin of "meat paste"* for the biscuits.

I've always called them Biscuit Browns. They've got BBGYB written on them, which is commonly known to stand for "Biscuit Browns Gum Your Bum".
