Phew! In short, for those who don't want to read our epic adventure.

We shot up the stormers that were munching away on the nearby scientists, and then watched a live broadcast of Shelton and crew making a glorious exit onto the planet's surface before experiencing a grizzly death.

Grimmie ran off to send an email and got surprise sexed by two stormers.
We headed over to the lift having had no response, gathering up surviving scientists along the way. The lift would take approximately twelve hours to ascend, as it would take the entire busted-up facility with it.

We realised that we had killed fewer stormers than there were stormer pens, and thusly went on a barbaric stormer hunt, mowing down a whole troupe of the bastards.

After we reached the surface our employers docked us 50% pay for blowing the facility up and potentially ruining the planet's ecosystem, but admitted the stormer situation was out of our hands. Kt'rr used his wily Shaktar charms and secured us a 50c bonus each for unforseen circumstances.

That was a marathon session last night. It tends to do that when nearing the end. You can see the end, but it always takes twice as long as you expected.

Debrief then. The main point was that the cultists died a grizzly death upon leaving the facility, which they did. The contacts would never mention that after Daniels did on the shuttle, and you did well keeping that in mind. That was was got you the massive increase in Karma rep. The cost of failure was an even bigger rep move in the opposite direction. There was a little confusion at times, but for the most part you stayed on target. However, you did take things into your own hands unnecessarily often, which could have botched things on a few occasions. I'm not going to mark you down for using your initiative though.

Your problems came in reading your orders. You interpreted them mostly well, but then immediately discarded them. Bearing in mind that the whole point of the operation was to stop the surface being contaminated by a mass breakout in the future, you were awfully keen to contaminate it yourselves. Luckily you were always diverted by someone on the squad, not that it mattered ultimately, since you shot the place up anyway.

The only real problem you had was your liberal use of bullets and bombs. In hindsight I'll take some responsibility for that, since you don't have a lot of melee and so didn't have a lot of other options. The Stormers turned out tougher than I expected too, although I'm quite pleased about that. I'd have let you get away with some shooting if you'd have used it through desperation, with carefully aimed shots, but right from the outset you disregarded your orders without hesitation or concern. In SLA that's a massive no-no, and if it wasn't for the fact you completed your secret mission you'd have been well in the shit.

I did notice a massive improvement in the IRC parts. People were more coordinated and on the ball, and you did your best stuff live. I'm more than happy to keep putting these in, and not pushing the forum parts as hard. However, it'll have to wait. I want to build up a head of steam again in regards to enthusiasm for SLA, so I'm going to try to start off an Eclipse Phase game with the view to pass it on to another GM and come back to SLA later. I'm certainly not dropping it - I have at least another half a dozen BPNs waiting to be written just to finish off the story arcs, and at least one standalone I really want to write but will probably have to wait because the stories are dropping behind a little.

So the BPN ended with you getting +0.5 SCL, 200c (after fines, with bonus), 3 XP, and a +3 rep increase with Karma. Any questions or comments for me?

I spent almost my entire bonus in bullets! Oopsie daisy. 16 shot altogether.
Will be buying 12 back at a cost of 36c

I really liked it, I had no idea that we would be facing the stormers until you actually let them loose on us, so it was nice to have a tactical BPN turn into massive visceral combat - plus I got to use Bertha a lot, so that makes me a happy rifleman.

Was a little hard in places to read between the lines in concern to orders, I was never truly sure if it was important not to contaminate the outside world seeing as we were going to send a bunch of lunatics outside to burst their guts and flood the environment with bacteria anyway. It was fun to see people cope with not wearing any armour, especially our larger squad mates having to take it off even to walk around the facility properly.

It will be a shame to see SLA go on pause, I feel quite connected with the world of progress, and the variety that's gone into the BPNs we've played thus-far, there's really no telling what we're going to do next, and that's exciting!

Quesstions..
If we'd aimed at all of the stormers, would we have contaminated the outside world?
If we'd aimed at all the the stormers, do you think we'd be alive by now?
Were there any secrets we missed, or any massive hooks you dangled that we seemed to ignore?

If you'd have hit all the Stormers, maybe one or two bullets going astray, then you'd have got away with it. However, like you say, if you'd have aimed for every shot you'd have probably had a lot more problems. They were geared for a full squad with a couple of melee specialists, but because you had a couple AFK, including your melee specialist, you struggled. Also, despite knowing there were these things about you kept wandering off in ones and twos. That's just asking for trouble. Really it came down to not even trying to avoid hull breaches though, and it was written into the BPN that if that happened you'd lose 50% of your pay.

This was a standalone BPN, so there wasn't any big hooks you missed. There was a bit of intrigue, in that the cultists had hacked your comms so knew your orders before you did. On top of that, Karma knew about it, so they deliberately made inflamattory orders to provoke them. It was possible to find that out, but I didn't expect it. In general you picked up everything that needed picking up, in fact looking deeper than you needed to. The BPN was pretty much on rails really, but of course you didn't know that. Especially since I'm known to wing some BPNs.

Missing out on the online sessions really hurt me on that run, but they were always thrown up when I couldn't get on due to my shifts :(

I got completely lost as to where I was and what I was doing.

I thought someone else was watching the suits and I was patrolling, then that changed, and now I see in the thread above I'm in the combat, and I have no idea what my character has been doing.

As far as I've known for the last week, Eraser was sat in a room with a bunch of suits picking his nose.

That's the disadvantage of the IRC games, that it's difficult to get all the players there at the same time. And unfortunately running it as a mixture of both is always going to cause confusion. If it becomes a problem I'll stick with forum. Ideally a game should be started IRC from the beginning I suppose and run exclusively that way, so only people who could make the games regularly would sign up. I think a game like that would drop to a once a month job though with ninja concerts etc, so wouldn't really go any faster.

Get in any downtime now, or else you'll forget. I'm reconsidering pausing SLA after some positive feedback, so I might have another BPN shortly if people would rather carry on without a break. I'm reconsidering my beardy commitments, so I could still run Eclipse Phase (I think that'll be a slow one anyway) alongside until someone wants to take over or we decide if we like it.

As an aside, if anyone wants to gm but is a bit short of ideas then I have a lot in various states of completion.

They are fairly bare bones so you can make them description heavy like moi or run them fast and make the players imagination work a little harder.

As for what type, well I've done some plans for the 40k stuff, a shit ton for SR, some for DnD and some that can be applied to pretty much any sci-fi setting.

I'm currently looking for iron kingdoms books for some steam punk action. But finding pdf's in any fit state is proving tricksy.
