Advice.

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Advice.

Post by The Shutting Downs »

Right, my other half is looking for a new laptop, as the one we are working off is about to fail, being over 10 years old (and I'm still struggling with my computer... thanks Joose :p)

So, the main desire is that it has to be a toshiba (she likes them) or anything really not an acer or samsung, and a decent keyboard built in.

To that end she has spotted this and wants your advice, as she has read these forums over my shoulder and thinks you lot know what you are on about.

We have a winner!

So, what's it going to be used for?

editz - and acer and samsung stuff have got better the last couple years, still not quite as sturdy imo.

Says page not found for me. I've had no real experience of Toshibas, but from experience I've aleays found Dells to be real workhorses. I'd never buy a desktop off them personally, but all their stuff seems very reliable and that's the main thing I look for in a laptop.

EDIT: That's what I get for not posting before I get my dinner.

It's a smidge cheaper on Amazon plus they stock the older version for a nice saving in bin lids, not a snazzy red colour though.

I'm a sucker for Sony laptops, but I recommended Toshiba for years at work.

I strongly suggest the Asus UL80vt. It's got 9 hours of real world internet browsing battery use (6 hours of video playing) and it's pretty cheap.

Workload will be browsing and office, nothing too strenuous.

Cheers for the Amazon linkage pete, I shall pass it on
