Cross wrote:Well I'm no expert on rival company motives, but there are any number of reasons DarkNight would want to set up here. The planet is unique, and very valuable to Karma. Even having a presence here would be a coup for DarkNight, considering how well protected it is. Then of course they might be conducting their own research, or trying to sabotage ours. They might even be trying to disrupt the eco-system enough to destroy it, although I suspect it is more resilient than most give it credit for. Maybe they even want to attack this facility and take the research, although I've never heard of DarkNight using biogenetics. I'm rather surprised they're here at all though, considering the negligable impact one unit could have compared to the massive risk of getting here. I suspect there's more to this than meets the eye. Still, that's why you are here and I have every faith you'll carry out your duty as required.
Dirk wrote:I concur - the fact that it is just one squad worries rather than reassures me. I don't like it, and I want us to head out there with as much information as possible.
Anyway, I think we should talk to Mathis and then head outside for a sweep of the facility.
I'm Brainrot and I am here to ask you a question: Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow? There is a Darknight facility outside and we're more than curious about the circumstances of its deployment. We suspect that it may have been an inside job. Any ideas?
Mathis wrote:I heard something about that. Personally I think someone's blowing smoke - I've seen the orbital defences - but I'm no naval tactician. If it's someone here I don't know how they'd do it without help from up above, and I can tell you that there's only one orbital comms system here. Which is in Shelton's office. Any other comms out of this place would have nowhere to go other than space anyway.
Brainrot wrote:So you're suspecting it's Shelton? It's quite possible, especially since he cannot leave the station. He could be an informant of some sort if DN has agents on the orbital. However, before we jump to conclusions, some of your co-workers have noticed an unusual change in your behaviour lately, we'd like to hear about that.
Mathis wrote:Me? You mean apart from being pissed off? I work my ass off keeping the air scrubbers working - and working better than topside projections expected, thanks to me - and all those ungrateful bastards do is complain that the air quality is getting worse. Of course it's getting fucking worse, we're sealed in here with all our pollution. Without me here it'd be a hell of a lot worse than it is now too, but you try telling them that. If I didn't have to breath this shit myself I'd stop working so hard and let them see how bad it would get.
Brainrot wrote:I can see why they have a hard time working with you. I have to admit though, locked up for almost a year in a shithole like this I'd be pissed as well. We're not taking this any further until we get over there and clean up the facility, see if we can stumble upon evidence indicating someone. Thank you for your time.
