ArmA II: Test Server

Post by friznit »

Second server up for testing new addons, maps and other shit that would confuse the more casual players. In other words, it's a place where me and Berk can fuck about with toys without screwing up the normal server and making it hard to join.

Things I want to try:
  • Panthera Map - Up and working, with a slightly older unfettled version of Domination map
  • Unified Sahrani (ArmA1) Map (CAA Addons)
  • ACE2 - Requires effort to set up. Maybe some other time.
  • Mando Missiles - Installed, works with the Mando version of Domi
  • Wargasm Game Mode - needs ACE
  • <s>Addonsynch</s> - not quite what I thought it was. It's more for keeping your addons up to date with the author than with the current server

Last nights mando playtest was interesting.

Seems like it has a few good features and cool toys, but is offset rather by a few bugs, and really difficult controls/needs the manual reading.

Obviously, not suited to 5punky play :P

 There's mods for just about everything in this game. Now there's even STALKER in ARMA2

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9795

Edit: and a mod to integrate TS3 features into the game, making realistic radios (so you can't talk unless you have a long range radio) and using the 3D sound feature. That's just nuts...

That TS doohicky Could add a whole new dimension to the game if we get separated and such, I am assuming that if your respawn is too far away you loose touch with the rest of the squad?

Sounds cool.

Just been looking at some of the ACE2 mods and stuff and found this http://dev-heaven.net/wiki/six-bc

Sounds interesting if we can round up 122 players.. :?

we might have tested that a bit, seemed like it'd work well with a GM running things.

It could do, I reckon it's worth a play.

But realistically, as we're not going for super-accurate milsim, and as we generally only have enough for one squad, I reckon it'd offer more disadvantages than advantages.
