Tukkake Server move 20/1/10

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Just a heads up really, shouldn't change or break anything.

Code: Select all

As part of our continuing improvements to service, we are moving customers from our legacy ‘Ginchy’ data centre into a new floor at the BlueSquare 2 data centre facility.

This move will allow access to a faster network, more bandwidth throughput per server at busy times, as well as reducing the time to respond to technical support requests, as we have a full team of on-site staff located at BlueSquare.

The move is scheduled to start at 11.30pm on 20th January 2010. We expect the move to take approx 4 hours, however individual servers will only occur a downtime of approx 25 minutes, due to the close proximity of the two data centres. All servers will be gracefully shut down prior to being physically moved.

We aim to have all servers moved and up and running by 3.30am.

Pfft, that's the same night Bluesquare have scheduled core router upgrades and some network downtime.

Great scheduling!

Well it is for the staff who only have to work through the night on one day.

Perhaps, but I dunno, its a very different job, i think it will be different staff.

I wonder what they'll do with the old poundhost datashed. I want a big house with a datashed in the back garden!

Looks like we're back up and running, relatively painless, didn't break much. :)
