CoD4 mapcycle

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Well, it's a fucking mess, innit?

Code: Select all

set sv_mapRotation "gametype war map mp_backlot gametype war map mp_carentan gametype war map mp_citystreets gametype war map mp_pipeline gametype war map mp_convoy gametype war map mp_broadcast gametype war map mp_crash_snow gametype war map mp_cargoship gametype war map mp_crossfire gametype war map mp_farm gametype war map mp_citystreets gametype war map mp_pipeline gametype war map mp_convoy gametype war map mp_vacant "
Really needs fixing and making not shit, so do stuff.

I think the available maps are;

Code: Select all

mp_backlot
mp_bloc
mp_bog
mp_cargoship
mp_citystreets
mp_convoy
mp_countdown
mp_crash
mp_crossfire
mp_farm
mp_overgrown
mp_pipeline
mp_shipment
mp_showdown
mp_strike
mp_vacant
so. GO.

My favorite map is Strike, so as long as that one is in there and Countdown isn't I don't care too much.

I hate countdown so much.

My favourite map is Countdown, so etc. etc.

Block Block and tell Bog to bog off. Turn Farm in to a car park.

Showdown would make a nice change, and I quite like Citystreets.

Put them all in a randomiser, press go 7 times and then let us play the resulting mess.

I quite like bog, until the inevitable storm of bombs and choppers ruin it.

And bloc is nice to snipe for a bit, then grab a shottie/p90 and run around stabbing and clipping the campers.

Countdown the one with the missiles? I even like that one with quickfire objective games like the bomb plant/defusal crap.

How about a couple of take and hold thingers, with the flags.

mayhaps a greater nerf of the choppers needed?

bombs aren't such an issue mostly, especially if you don't get a rofflecopter to pay for the next airstrike after.

The last one I did appeared to just make it shoot me in the head a lot. So maybe it's your turn. :P

I was thinking we're all at 55 by now, why not just bin the chopper/plane. But then I thought it's unlikely to be easy to get that to stick on certain maps but not others. So I gave up on that idea.

I'm happy to bin the chopper entirely.

Not so sure about the airstrikes though, as they have a fair bit of risk, and potential to do something impressive, rather than just annoy.

I concur with toning the chopper down a bit, isn't it set to fire if it can see 15% of you or more?

I don't mind airstrikes, because you do actually have a chance of dodging the bombs if you're paying attention, the heli is just vicious.

As for the map cycle, Bog is a bit boring I find as it's not big or complex enough, but the only one I actually don't like is Countdown (that's the missile silo one yeah?) although I'm happy to play it once or twice in the map cycle if other 5punkers want it.

It was set to 75%

I've tried utterly gimping it.

Yeah there are just way too many sightlines on Countdown, and I inevitably get bumraped constantly by people I can't see.

I like all maps and most game modes, particularly Domination - less running around aimlessly and more obvious front lines. That is, when we even have enough players to have front lines. Reducing the maximum number of players to 32 might attract more random players when we play.

Can the chopper be entirely removed like World at War, or do you have to have a chopper that does 0 damage? Keep airstrikes as they are though, most of the time with limited players and friendly fire they don't hit shit.

No damage, doesn't shoot and can be shot down with 1 shot.

Might be worth putting a message to that effect in the console messages, to avoid unnecessary 'buh?'.

How about dropping the round timer a bit? Isn't it set at something like half an hour at the moment. Should stop people getting outrageously in the lead and it might mean I get more than three rounds.

As for maps, I like Bloc (finding snipers with my shotgun? lovely), am meh on Countdown, and hate Bog. Overgrown is a bit big for the amount of players we usually have (and seems to attract retards for some reason). Vacant and cargoship are probably my favourites for 5punky gaes, so maybe put those a bit later in the cycle so they hit between 9 and 10 (ie when it's busiest)?

At the moment it's 20 minutes or 1750 points, whichever comes first.

15 minutes / 1250 points seem better? (though I'm wary of this, risks shortening the rounds too much)

There's not much point staggering the mapcycle, as the server very rarely gets restarted.

Obviously, we could restart the server before games, but obviously, there'd be no variation. Just the first 6 maps of the cycle every week.

For now, I've done as peet suggested, stuck all the maps on in a random order.

Map voting and Mode voting is enabled, as it has been forever. so if you don't like a map, get over it, or vote. either way.

Yes please. I think Modern Warfare 2 is 10-15 minutes per round, it makes MW1 seem like it's lasting forever to me

Yeah, it can't hurt to give it a go. In a round where it times out it just feels like it's taking ages to me. Obviously that's just my opinion.
