BRAND NEW, unused ~ never been fired up

List price is almost £90 - I'll be happy with £60 (including P&P) paid via Paypal - otherwise it'll be stuck in stock and worth nothing after a few months.

We bought it for a Dell that it didn't fit due to the Dell business PC chassis it was going into. It's a fat,double width card and high, so make sure you have a fairly roomy rig - most gaming rigs should be fine I imagine.

I'm always confused by these things, so I'll ask:

I've got a 9800 GT, is the one you're offering better or not? I assume not but I always forget these things.

Also, as (IIRC) mr.j's machine had weird issues with his 4750 (i think) when he first built it, I'd not risk it.

Thinking about it, that card would be ideal for anyone with a 1st gen 8800GTS (320/640MB) who wants a cheap upgrade. So buy it

I'd fall into that category then, and a cheap upgrade sounds about right for me at the moment. If somebody with something worse than my GTS wants the upgrade though feel free, my machine is fine at the moment and I'm only really interested because it's cheap and I don't want to see it go to waste.

Well I'm just futureproofing for a little longer since I don't need to upgrade yet, so if it's a really good upgrade to someone then go for it. Consider me greeding, rather than needing, to use a Warcraftism.

I'd be tempted to have it for my home PC if I was A) Going to use it a large amount in the next 6-7 months, which I'm not and B) Wasn't going to replace the Home one with the better spec'd Uni one.

I'd be wary of a netbook for anything but webnetting, personally I find a laptop a big enough change to be annoying to type on.

I've used an nc10 a bit, seemed fine for random crap like that, but I wouldn't like to use one for note taking or large amounts of typing.

Personally, I wouldn't use a netbook for notetaking in Uni.

It's fine if all you do is text, but when you need to do drawings or you're doing a bit of maths, doing it by hand is faster and more flexible.

I think, quite suprisingly for a Comp Sci/Soft Engineering (some core units are mixed), there's only a couple of people out of 50-70 people not doing notes by hand. Just an fyi there.

Scarily, I'm about to agree with buzz.

Due to being spazzy I've had laptops forever, and I still tend to do note taking and such on paper whenever I can, it saves a lot of thinking time trying to lay stuff out in a sane manner (incidentally, I found excel much more useful for notes than word when I was doing CCNA stuff)

No doubt, a computer is a very handy thing, but I'll generally scrawl stuff down on paper, then re-write it on a computer to make it legible/sane after.

Thinking about it, I tend to work on paper first for everything, much easier to get ideas/designs down quickly, then refine them later.
