It was certainly more about goodbye David than a coherent story. In the Confidential ep, Davies says it's basically a complete handover and that Moffat has no obligation to use any of the characters, so it was mostly a tearful perhaps goodbye to them.
Since Moffat is responsible for the stand-out best episode since the new Doctor Who, The Empty Child, I hope good things are ahead. Davies blew his load with the Daleks vs. Cybermen / Rose Tyler ending eps and has been struggling to top that by dragging back names from the past - the Sarah Jane/Torchwood crossover eps, Davros and the Master have all been pretty weak in my view, and the Sontarans and Rassilon were just rubbish.
I like the new doc and it'll be interesting to see how he gets on, Tennant appealed to me because he used the cheery "Hello!" when greeting everyone from his (and my) favourite Who, Tom Baker.
In David Tennant's biography, Billie Piper describes how she tried to "do" Rose again in her mirror, but just couldn't recpature her and I think that was a bit in evidence in the episode. I'll miss her, but at least the new girl looks like one "for the Dads" - which has always been a major factor in companions as I recall. More a cute one like Jo or Romana2 than a hot one with massive knockers like Peri or Ace.

Having seen a major part of every doctor's era, except for 8th, I can safely say Tennant is my favourite . I guess he's British and mental enough for the role.

I'd say he's my 4th favourite, after Tom Baker, Christopher Eccleston and Patrick Troughton. In that order. Nobody beats Baker. Perhaps a poll is in order?Baliame wrote:Having seen a major part of every doctor's era, except for 8th, I can safely say Tennant is my favourite . You can, actually. It's a bit dodgy but this thing has a live broadcast of CBS, and Superbowl's on CBS this year.Dog Pants wrote:I think I'd at least try to watch this if it was on. A few beers and I think I could enjoy it. However, I don't think I can see it anywhere.
