New Multiplayer Game of the Year 2009

Post by Dog Pants »

Post your nominations here for the New MP Game of the Year award 2009. This new award is being trialled to see if there are enough potential candidates for an award. It should be awarded to the multiplayer game released this year which has held the most interest for 5punkers.

Polls will be added to reflect nominations in the new year.

I go with Borderlands. There's not been a great amount of MP games out this year, and despite being a little bit of a damp squib, Borderlands has pioneered the jump-in multiplayer co-op that I think is going to be a lot bigger in coming years. It's also pretty stylish, and damn good fun with a pal.

How about Burnout Paradise? Usually good for a laugh when there`s a few of us on it

I'd go with bumout too actually, we haven't played that much but is an excellent giggle when we do

I'm going for bumout paradise as well, what looked like a pretty plain arcade racer at first turned out to be buckets o' fun, and the webcam feature made it even better.

I thought Bumout was last year, but it seems the PC version was released in february of this year.

I would say Borderlands, but I don't think we really played that much of it together did we?

Nope, I played it online once and didn't like the experience, but I guess it's about as close to a multiplayer game release this year I've played :/

Just because I play it most, and it has that inexplicably good 5punky game thing going on, ARMA 2.

Tempted to agree with Berk, but it's had a fairly minority following. From a 5punk perspective the most successful multiplayer game this year by far has been WoW, so I'm going to nominate that.

I think the WOW influence has kinda reduced the ability of other games to really gain traction for some reason.

I think it's more that no good MP games have been released this year.

Oh sorry, I mistook the multiplayer part of massively multiplayer for actual multiplayer, rather than multiple players playing single player games on multiple servers....erm... what?

ArmA2 seconded then :faint:

I thnk it's a bit of both. There haven't been many decent games released, but if there wasn't a large Warcraft following this year we'd have probably picked up a few shit ones and found something we liked. However, you could argue the same about COD4 a couple of years ago, or BEEF before that.

Was keith this year? We played that too much and ruined it for ourselves like fred. Shame really.

This entire year appears to have flown by for me.
