If SW:TOR doesn't get released near that date, might have to try that one out for a month...

It's a funny thing. STO has the potential to be great - detailed setting, lots of scope for adventure, the potential for a good depth, spaceships. However, with every new MMO I've played in the last few years being lacklustre at best, I'm not holding out much hope. Still, one day somebody has to release a half decent one.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up about SW:TOR, but its too late...I'm really looking forward to it. Bioware is having a good run and I hope they can continue it with an MMO.

Everything ends up trying to be WoW, no matter what the setting is, until the industry gives up on that there is no hope.

It's sad but true. Either that or until Blizzard stop releasing content for Warcraft. Which won't be for at least another two years.

:above: That.

Is this the one from cryptic that 6 month/lifetime subs got access too? Or is that something else? I haven't been paying attention.

Sort of yes. It should be, but the internets are filled with the wailings of people who have the subscription deal, and still haven't got a beta invite. The official line is "we promised you an invite, we didn't say you would get it first", which seems a bit stinky.

Tis why I'm hoping FFXIV is like XI, though it looks more like The Last Remnant then either.

I've been trying to play the "we want you back" trial on WoW and I'm still having trouble getting into it at all. Is there a story in there somewhere between collect me 4 bear asses? Or is it just collect gear/achievements/honor? That and even on the "low" populated servers I'm still fighting 10 people for the same named bear ass.

I'm also looking forward to SWTOR but who am I kidding, I'll never leave XI...I'll just take another 6 month break like normal.

I see Everquest is releasing a new expansion this month. From the few things I read...its taking another step toward being WoW-ish.

I still have an urge to start Everquest from the being though. They have a server that opened back in October with just the original zones and will bring in the expansions slowly. But, I'd rather sink my time into something new...

There's a lot or Lore to WoW, but you have to read everything to get it. You should come play on ED with us. I just levelled a character and only once had any competition for mobs.

Edit: though I guess you're locked into US side only?

There's your problem, I think empty servers attract a lot of new players, which means a lot of lowbies.

On busier servers I think more people are a higher level.

Only place I had issue recently was at hillsbrad, so I buggered off elsewhere to play for a while.

Yeah locked into US/Oceania/Central America or something, I was looking to see if I could on this trial. Not sure if I could just grab an EU client or if it looked at IPs, and I figured for a 10 day trial wasn't worth bugging anyone about it. Was all gonna come :ninja: :buggered: Frizzy.

Was a bit surprised no one killed me while collecting raptor asses like they used too. Got a 42 rogue on a PvP server who used to get deaded every 20min or so. Maybe all the griefers leveled?

Yeah, what the cock is going on with that? The open beta's been announced for Jan 12, hardly leaves much time for the closed one.

I think to get on EU all you need to do is to get an EU sub (http://eu.battle.net) and change one of the files in your client to point to the EU realm list.

Go to C:\Games\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS\realmlist.wtf (or wherever, might be best to search for it) and modify the text in this file so it reads:

Code: Select all

set realmlist eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set realmlistbn ""
set portal eu
Get a backup first, obviously.

Then log in and see if it works!

Did anyone look at their sub and see if it's easy enough to pass on? I have no use for mine at the moment so I can pass on the info if its possible.

I got the STO closed beta access. Only played an hour or two. I guess I'm not supposed to say anything about it still, so I wont

However I've mostly lost interest in testing games now, I can wait for the final product. But getting a peek at it early is nice.
