File recovery

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

The majority of them need to be installed before the file is deleted, but there are a few out there that don't. Of course if you've installed a new OS on the same drive there's a good chance they'll be overwritten and unrecoverable (without expensive forensic equipment at least). Have a google for undelete software, look for ones that don't need to be pre-installed, find a free trial, and pray. In my experience I've only ever recovered deleted stuff maybe 20% of the time, the rest of the time it's been lost.

I think you'll need to elaborate on; what you've done, what you're trying to do and what these old files are?

Although if you have done what Dog Pants describes you're pretty much fucked.

They may be "owned" by the account of the old installation. Right-click a few and choose Properties. Check they're not read-only and on the security tab take give the current user Full Control of them.

All are marked read only, have tried taking that off but it just reappears when i go back in to it. Current user already has full control. Have just noticed that the save files in game all end with .das, is this normal?
