Since we're looking to venture into a Raid environment soon I'll list a few extra addons that you might find useful. I won't bother doing links as all these can be installed and kept up to date using the Curse Client, which I can highly recommend. For the sake of completeness I've included a bunch of interfarse enhancements stuffs that some people might like, but they're not essential. I've indicated which ones I use since they're well-tested and because I tend to choose addons that are small (low memory usage), easily configurable and inobtrusive.
RAID Addons Must Haves
Boss Mods: Choose betweeen BigWigs, Deadly or Deus Vox Encounters. I've started using the latter recently because it's very customisable and has good audio cues for important stuff.
Omen Threat Meter: Have it open somewhere you can see it
Ora2: This is useful raid management device that lets the raid leader set up things like main tanks and important cooldowns so everyone can see them. Don't get Ora3 yet they don't seem to work together.
Healbot: clearly for healers only. Some people prefer to use the combination of Grid and Clique but they take more setting up.
Decursive: For anyone who can decurse, cleanse, clear magic, neutralise poison etc. (Druids, paladins, mages, priests & shamans).
Nice To Have But Not Vital
Recount - Damage meter and many other useful things, like death reports.
Raid Frames - Blizzard standard ones are a ok but a bit clunky. Popular alternatives are:
- X-Perl (the easiest to set up)
- Grid (Very flexible and compact but takes a bit of fettling to get it how you want. Also get GriManaBars and GridCooldownText)
- Pitbull (Good for unit and party frames but can take a lot of time to get set up properly for large raids)
Interface Addons
You don't need these, but they can make it easier to see what's going on, clear up your screen a bit by shifting crap out of the way and help FPS by reducing some of the text spam. There's shit tons of these so I'll just list some of the ones I find most useful:
CT_Viewport: the only one not on Curse. Let's you squish the game window giving a blank space at the bottom (or top) to put things like chat frames and unit bars so they don't cover the action. Keept is in proportion so incidentally gives you wider peripheral view.
Bartender4: Move our button bars, resize them, stack them on top of each other, make shortcut keys on the fly. Very handy.
Chatter: One of any number of chat mods, and I think most of us have it already. Useful things are allowing links in spunkchat and sticky channels.
Elkano's BuffBars: Replaces all the icons with inobtrusive bars. Very configurable and can be used for tracking all sorts of useful cooldowns.
Parrot: A scrolling combat text addon. It allows you to move the scrolling text to the sides and importantly, turn some off or throttle them so only the big numbers show up. A good FPS saver.
Quartz: Casting bars for you and your target.
TipTac: move, resize and fiddle with the default tooltip to get it out the bloody way.
And Finally
ArtPad: I just noticed this on Curse and I demand that everyone gets it. Apart from the obvious tactical implications of being able to draw stuff in raid, there are all the 5punky connotations as well....
