Lack of posts

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the forum a bit more active.

It must put first time visitors off a bit when they can hardly see any new posts.

I'm guessing it's just because we have been established for a year now, and not "that many" new games have been added, as it's been a pretty quiet year for new online games.

Also, I think in general, most moderators seem to be a bit lazy, and if anyone feels they don't wish to moderate anymore, and would like someone else to have a go, please say so.

So, has anyone got any ideas?

Maybe bumping some threads might create more posts, but as for new ones I suppose that's just down to our imagination. The discussion board's definately more active than when I joined though, just to add a positive note.

more Pears of Anguish? that is now my phrase of the week, last week it was pink sock ... hmm there's a theme here

I would post more but I get a bit selfconcious when I'm listed as the last poster in every section

also is there much to mod? we're all fairly non-twuntish I think and the only problems I've seen are the time tunnel effect. maybe the mods are so good I dont see the other stuff

Offer porn every 100 Posts.
Also: Convince moderators to organise more game-events?

Hehulk seems to be good at organising Eve-Type outings, And i'm sure we could organise some HL2 Type events if we really tried?

I wouldn't mind being a mod Wey.

Also, would help if more people signed up for games (See: Counter Strike: Source)

I think we need 2 things.

1)More members. Attracted though some kind of organised events, games wise, as mentioned before. Also through sillies made for b3ta, such as the UT2004 badger machinima thingy.

2)More games. Weve got a fairly limited MMOG coverage (guild wars and EVE. Basically). Also, most of our games are FPS's. Fair enough, most online games are FPS's, but theres also a lot of RTS games out there that are brill. I know some of you lot play them, as I've seen you playing them on x-fire. We all seem to be playing different ones, but then most of the gooduns can be got in minty-budget flavour. The only reason a lot of us have CoD is due to 5punk. Maybe we should try some RTS goodness.

I know Ive tried to get people on it before, but im going to try again anyway :)

Interesting Note: It is entirelly possible, with very little effort, to get a lot of games (such as Warcraft 3) working online, even in floorware mode, through Magic and Trickery. That I know.

this actualy. i foresee COD2 being quite popular, but maybe joose is right on expanding from purely FPS and going for an RTS or somthing. i'd dont realy have any but i'd be willing to buy one on a whim if every one else does

probably best trying one of the C+C's. old enough to be cheap/free. alternativley, what was that new RTS that came out recently, that plays like C+C? act of war? i know atleast one 5punker has it

Act of war is alright, but personally C&C Generals does the same thing better.

As for RTS buying, as i said before, you can get many if not all of em working in floorware flavours. But if you really want to buy one, I vote Warcraft 3. Its nice, a bit different, well balenced sides but each very different to play. Plus its now available on Budget for very little monies.

plain vanilla flavoured WC3 is good, but the balencing is slightly better with frozen throne included.

It's really not something I'd be interested in but what about sports games? having not played any on the PC I don't know what, if any are available. I did quite enjoy playing tiger woods on the consoles though and I think that's on PC. Shall I run and hide now?

I've found my problem is a lack of time for gaming (I know, it sucks).. maybe we should make it clearer which weeknights are designated for what.. I know that some of you guys have a CoD night (Although I do not have CoD).. How about a Beef2 Night? A CSS Night (wait, you probably already have one of these.. maybe I should open my eyes once in a while)? .. and I am very much tempted by EVE.. however much it may swallow any free-time I may have. How much are the subs on EVE..? I could ask this in EVE Forum, but I'm on a rant now eh.

we have most of these game nights covered im sure its just again getting more people to be active in them aswell as on this site :? sort of a 2way thing going on here me thinks because more people on site = more 5cheduled games and more 5cheduled games = more people on site due to promotion lol.
