Handy hint for those with a My Docs folder on a seperate drive.
Go into steam and append -nohomedir to the command line.

This will make it stop looking for the folder and just use the steamapps folder instead, a quirk of the U3 engine.
If you don't do this, the game wont save settings (controls, resolution etc) or even your game.

I would just like to remind everyone that L4D2 comes out in 2 days, so now is your chance to pre-order the game for 20 quid, afterwards it costs 22 quid. that's a difference of TWO WHOLE POUNDS!
I'm up for one of these if three others of you lot are.
