Harvest Festival - WoW lore

Post by FatherJack »

Only one quest to do for this one, but this is what's being remembered for those who didn't play Warcraft 3.

Grom Hellscream (with Thrall) defeats Mannoroth the pit lord, freeing himself and all orcs from his influence. A monument to him and the remains of Mannoroth's weapon can be found in the SE area of Ashenvale in WoW, and are the destination for the Harvest quest.

Grom (and the other cheiftains, not Thrall) had previously allied with Mannoroth while they were back in Draenor (hence the red eyes) drinking of the pit lord's blood voluntarily, not been unwillingly corrupted as Thrall had believed.

There are a few more of these videos around, but they don't always mean much on their own. If there's any interest I can string together a few with some words to describe some of the events, at least in WC3, which occasionally show up in WoW.

Makes is all the more disappointing come Cataclysm when Garrosh Hellscream takes the Horde to war again, putting us pretty much back where we started. Out of all the characters in all the games I've played, Thrall is one of the few I really like.
