More online manshoot movie has emerged from the fertile innards of Infinity Ward, this time showing off some flag grabbing in Modern Warfare 2. I don't know if it's just me, but I find the idea of dudes running around with riot shields when there are rocket launchers and assault rifles on the field rather amusing. "My shield of reinforced plastic will save me!"

Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled for worldwide release on November 10th, and apparently has the most pre-orders of any game in Activision's history.

The video I saw of the single player (the level in the blizzard) was enough to convince me to buy this game.

I may not watch any more trailers so it doesn't ruin anything when I come to play it.

I have not read the article.

But riot shields, methinks someone at IW has heard about CS1.6 but not actually played it.

They were excellent!

There was nothing funnier in CS 1.6 then the entire CT team running up the T's with riot shields on, one T throwing a 'nade and everybody dying :D

I'm sure that unlike CS 1.6, the riot shield won't be totally impervious to bullets, seeing as COD has bullet penetration.

Capture the flag in Delta horse and Delta horse 2 is pretty much what got me into online gaming. More of this sort of thing I say! I'm very excited about this game.

The ladies over at rps forums are all knicker twisted about this. I don't give a shit about innovation or lack of, these games are fun and highly polished in mp and the last one's sp actually took a bold step in terms of killing the merkin with radiation after building the char for most of the game.

The riot shield - looks to be perspex but is probably proof to most bullets, but you probably can't use a gun, or if you can use then can't aim down the sight. And you maybe move a bit slower. No doubt it's balanced quite well, I think it adds a nice tactical touch.

Throwing knives - sweeeeet, we will need more than a few knife/throwing knife games.

CTF - my favouritest game mode. Demands no moar tictacs really than deafmatch but feels more satisfying to me when won. I did wonder why it wasn't in the last one given they'd made flag textures for the domination type games. I look forward to ctf in a knife only fashion. :)

That video is a bit pissy because it's not hardcore. An rpg hits the wall right next to the flag carrier and it hurts him a bit, fuck that weak weapon shit.

Does that matter though? It doesn't have to be realistic, just enjoyable.

This, I never complain about it because I still enjoy hardcore mode, but it's still easier for me on normal.

My gripe IS because I don't find it enjoyable when a huge explosive or a load of bullets doesn't do even slightly what they should, I find it annoying which is why I enjoy hardcore more.

It's still not realistic on hardcore, an rpg into a hard surface like the wall it hits in the video would kill or seriously shred the flag carrier, his mates, the enemy players who're attacking him and probably a few further down the street too if it was more realistic.

Realism doesn't bother me that much, too much would be annoying too given the quite arcadey feel of the newer cod games.

It would be annoying if it was like arma, the pace and patience needed in arma would make a lot of people give up very quickly. It's a good balance of speed and fun on hardcore imo, it takes too long and too many bullets on normal.

I would like a gui on hardcore though, I don't see it as necessary to turn it off to make the guns do more damage.

Looks good. CTF is one of my favourite modes aswell. I'm not sure why they decided to add those huge distracting kill messages at the bottom of the screen though, what was wrong with simple scrolling text?

This ^ I feel you're made to learn to remember what you currently have or not and I think it's excellent.

If you can't remember if you have a UAV/Airstrike/Heli, wait until UAV is down and then press 6 to see what happens :P

I like how the plastic shields deflect bullets and explosions, but a hand-thrown knife goes straight through a helmet. I hope a big bag o' knives is a perk.
